Founders Club at Pawleys Island may have just opened in 2008, but it’s already fast-becoming a tradition among countless golfers.
With a backdrop like the picturesque setting of Pawleys Island, it’s no wonder this par- 72 golf course has an allure far and wide in all of its 6,910 yards. Founders Club showcases 18 one-of-a-kind holes reinvented by designer Thomas Walker on the former grounds of the Sea Gulf Golf Club.
Founders Club is known to offer a dramatic but accommodating round of golf – from isolated tee boxes to water features, enhanced by a sprinkling of azaleas and towering live oaks.
After the 18th hole, wrap up your day on the wrap-around porch at the Founders Club’s Lowcountry-style clubhouse overlooking the 18th green. The clubhouse offers a slew of dining and meeting options.

I have been coming to Myrtle Beach for 13 years to play golf. This by far was the worst experience I ever had! First the course was in terrible shape: the tee boxes, fairways, and the greens were destroyed. But what made it worse was the water jugs had warm water, there was no beverage service on the course and the restrooms on the back nine were locked! Horrible!
This course is an excellent layout. It features little to no rough and all waste bunkers, (much like the home to American golf Pinehurst). It is a difficult track which is why people say they don't like it. If you can't get out of the sand you're going to have a long day. The conditions were spot on. Any negative reviews you hear about this course come from high handicappers who can't hit a sand shot, they put up a monster number and then say the course sucks. Anyone who knows a lick about golf and golf course design will appreciate this track. If you're a hacker go play a pitch & putt leave the real golf courses to the real golfers !
we have been down here golfing for the past ten days and the founder's club had the best conditions of any course we played which included MBN north course, grande dunes and true blue. FC's green were rolling true with expected speeds, the fairways and approaches were pretty dry considering the more than one inch of rain the morning of. i know many of the reviews here complain about the bunkers and course employees admit that is their biggest complaint, but that is the style and layout of the course which is also what makes it so special in the MB area. we thought it was fun to drive the carts in the waste bunkers like at king's birth and long bay. the contrast of the rough vs. fairways is simply amazing on this gorgeous and challenging course. can't wait to visit again !
A lot of hidden water, course was very wet/soggy, lack of direction signs to next hole. Golfed with 2 locals who didn't help me stay out of trouble. I'm a 18 hdcp but I was hitting into water or swampy areas or waste areas(which there is a lot of). Greens were very slow which made it tuff to reach the pins when putting. Overall I had a very disappointing round of golf. Personally, not worth $49.99+tax.:(
I went to this course first time in a year cause I was not impressed with it the first time I played it. I must say that I am really impressed how far it has become since Eric Glosick the head pro took over this course. He is doing a great job thus far turning this place around to where it should be. Thank you for the experience.
