Why Your Golf Group Should Go To The Beach For The Super Bowl

Golf and the Super Bowl — does it get any better than that?

This season, the NFL’s championship game will take place on Feb. 7. That happens to be a great time of year to hit the links at your favorite Myrtle Beach golf courses, too. Why not combine two of your favorite things into one fabulous trip?

Whether you’re rooting for the Chiefs or the Packers to get there, or maybe underdogs such as the Browns or the Rams , you can take your golf game to the Grand Strand’s legendary courses and play like a champion yourself.

We’ve put together the best reasons to round up your threesome or foursome for a golf weekend and a Super Bowl outing. Don’t miss our list of 19th holes to belly up to after your round and see which team gets crowned champion.

Why Golf Groups Should Come to Myrtle Beach for the Super Bowl

#1: Great Golf Rates

The off-season for golf in Myrtle Beach is a great time to schedule a few rounds — and save a few bucks.

Find the year’s lowest rates to play in some of the most pleasant weather the region has to offer. A Grand Strand winter is short and mild, with highs in the 50s and 60s. Nighttime temps drop into the 30s in some cases, but by then, you’ll be home resting after the 19th hole, anyway.

Barefoot Resort courses offer Super Bowl specials, for golf only and a stay-and-play package, too. Check them out.

#2: Less Crowded Courses

February is a great time to visit Myrtle Beach. In addition to the break from hot temperatures mentioned, the humidity is low — and the crowds are sparse. Few attractions and restaurants adjust hours or shut down for the winter, either. It’s nearly all open for business as usual.

There are lots of things to do on the Grand Strand anyway. North Myrtle Beach, which is close but can seem a world away, also has more space and smaller crowds in the off-season.

#3: The 19th Holes to Watch the Game

This might be the best part! After you partake in a round at courses such as Dunes Golf and Beach Club, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Pine Lakes Country Club, or any of dozens of other superb grounds, settle in for the big game at one of these awesome spots.

Many establishments have happy hour specials and bar food and dinner available. Check with your restaurant of choice for details and any possible restrictions for game day.

Local Favorites For Game Day

Carolina Ale House

This is one of the friendliest spots on the Grand Strand. We recommend a pint of a local delight on tap: Dirty Myrtle. The nachos are bigger than the Superdome — take your choice of chicken, chili, or pork. (We love the chili.) The fries are even awesome! Attentive staff, great menu — always a winning choice.

810 Billiards & Bowling

Found inside The Market Common, 810 serves food that’s way above par. Grab a beer and a game of pool before kickoff. Bowl a few frames while you watch the game. Reasonable prices are on tap for beer and games, for sure. Enjoy a lively atmosphere that’ll become a fixture of your Myrtle Beach visits.

Find a refreshing diversion from stuffy dining in this unpretentious favorite hotspot. Split a plate of blackened shrimp nachos and pimento cheese and dips. Take your pick from a formidable lineup of draught beers. Gorgeous view of the Intracoastal Waterway with outdoor seating.

The entire family will have a blast here. The crew here takes the pandemic seriously without compromising awesome service. The drinks are superb, and it’s an awesome spot to unwind. There are lots of games to play during that epically long halftime show, too.
