Twenty-five years ago, a small gathering of friends hit the links to have a good time and raise money for charity. Today, that gathering has grown into one of the most successful golf fundrasiers in the nation – the Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am.
Held at the Barefoot Resort Dye Course in North Myrtle Beach every year the day following the final round of The Masters Tournament at nearby Augusta (Ga.) National, the MAM attracts big names in the world of golf, music, movies and all sorts of sports. Hosted by the South Carolina-based rock band Hootie & The Blowfish, the fun-filled tourney also attracts thousands of fans to watch them play.
The quarter-century tradition continues Monday, April 15, and provides the perfect opportunity for folks who love to both play and watch memorable rounds of golf. Past appearances include pro golfers Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Nancy Lopez, Fred Couples, Nick Faldo, Davis Love III, Brandel Chamblee, Chris DiMarco, Tom Kite, Jim Furyk, Scott Simpson, Charlie Rymer, Craig Stadler and John Daly, who entertains crowds every year with his colorful outfits and antics.
Among the many celebrities to appear are actors Bill Murray and Samuel L. Jackson, musicians Jason Mraz, Alice Cooper and Meatloaf, and Hall of Fame athletes Wayne Gretzky (NHL), George Brett and Johnny Bench (MLB), and NFL legends John Elway, Dan Marino, Brett Favre, Michael Strahan, Marcus Allen and more.
