LPGA Rookie Stephenson, Myrtle Beach Golf team up to promote sport on Grand Strand

The first time Lauren Stephenson played golf on the Grand Strand she won a state golf championship. Six years later, she earned another title – brand ambassador for MyrtleBeachGolf.com.

Stephenson, a native of South Carolina and a rookie on the LPGA Tour, will serve as a spokesperson for MyrtleBeachGolf.com, the Grand Strand’s leading tee time and golf package provider.

“It really is an honor to partner with a company from my home state that truly believes in me and my career potential,” said Stephenson, who posted a top-10 finish in her LPGA debut. “I am excited to grow alongside of MyrtleBeachGolf.com and be a part of all that they are doing to grow the game of golf on South CarolinaĆs east coast.”

A native of Greenville in the Upstate and a resident of Lexington in the Midlands, Stephenson dominated the entire state as a junior and during her career at powerhouse Lexington High. She won numerous SCJGA and AJGA titles, as well as three team and two individual SCHSL state championships. She even posted the best-ever finish (fifth) by a girl in the boys tournament.

Stephenson started her collegiate career at Clemson before transferring to Alabama, where she capped her college campaign as the NCAA record-holder for the lowest scoring average for a female golfer. In 2018, she was named All-SEC first team, a WGCA All-American, and earned spots on the U.S. Curtis Cup and Palmer Cup rosters as No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

After earning her LPGA Tour card at the 2018 LPGA Q-Series, Stephenson finished eighth in her first professional event at the 2019 ISPS Handa Vic Open and already has over $100,000 in earnings this season. She is considered one of the up-and-comers to watch on the LPGA Tour.

“We are very excited about our new relationship with Lauren,” said Brian Miller, Director of Sales for MyrtleBeachGolf.com. “As a South Carolina based company, it is a unique opportunity for us to be able to sponsor a rising star from our state and at the same time, promote golf in Myrtle Beach.”

Stephenson joins forces with PGA Tour star recently joined as a brand ambassador for MyrtleBeachGolf.com, the area’s largest of its kind. With more than 80 championship courses along the 60-mile stretch of coast called the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach is one of the nation’s most popular places to play and stay.

MyrtleBeachGolf.com offers comprehensive golf and lodging packages that can be reserved online, or customized over the phone with a local golf director. MyrtleBeachGolf.com is the largest coordinating service of its kind in Myrtle Beach, one of the premier golf destinations in the country.

Stephenson will work with MyrtleBeachGolf.com to promote golf in the area and help attract more female golfers to the area. She will take part in various promotional campaigns and make special appearances at events on the Grand Strand.

“We look forward to our new partnership and all of the creative ways we can work together to get more golfers to visit our area,” Miller said.

The move is also a great start to Stephenson’s pro career as her success brings more exposure to the Myrtle Beach golf scene.

“I am confident that this is only the beginning of a great partnership and am looking forward to what is to come,” Stephenson said.
