How cold is too cold to golf?
That’s a trick question. It really depends on the golfer. When vacationers pack their clubs and head to Myrtle Beach in the off-season, they know chances are great that Carolina blue sky will welcome them.
Air temperatures, though? Even with that famous Myrtle Beach sun, winter days can get nippy. In December, highs can still reach about 60, which is downright tropical for some of our northern neighbors. Even in January and February, highs stick around the mid- to upper-50s, but lows can dip into the 30s, making early (or late-day rounds) a bit challenging at times.
We’ll let you in on a few tips for winter golf. With a little prep work and caution, you can enjoy the links in much the same way you did when you visited in spring and summer. Plus, we’ll tell you about some terrific golf specials available from area resorts to make that winter jaunt to the coast even more enticing. As though you needed an excuse. Golf in Myrtle Beach can be a year-round endeavor.
