The Pearl Golf Links

To discover the proverbial pearl of golf means to play The Pearl Golf Links, where three 9-hole courses create distinctly different golf experiences along the banks of the Calabash River in Calabash, N.C.

The 27-hole Pearl Golf Links opened in 1987 and was beautifully renovated in 1999, with fast-rolling Mini Verde Bermuda greens and manicured fairways. Architect Dan Maples didn’t cut any corners with this design, but he did carve the course through a Carolina pine forest and a 900-acre marsh preserve.

It’s what earned the traditional course a nomination for “Best New Public Courses in America” from Golf Digest after it first opened. The Pearl Golf Links also earned a four-star rating in Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” in 2008.

The Pearl East nine emphasizes a more parkland style course, which emphasizes accuracy over power. The Pearl North nine the golfer will get the feel of a more links style golf course, with wider fairways and larger greens. The Pearl West nine combines the best of both featuring 6 holes set on the Calabash River highlighting the natural beauty of The Pearl.

Golfers at all skill levels will be able to take a swing at the 27-hole Pearl Golf Links. A full menu of amenities include a full-service pro shop, golf lessons, practice range and breakfast, lunch and dinner served at The Pearl Restaurant and Bar.

We played East and North. If you play the East, bring your bug spray. TERRIBLE mosquito problem if you go in the trees...and you will go in the trees. North is a little less wooded. Other than that, great track. Fun test. Course was in really good shape. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Love the pearl lay outs. West course is closed till mid October as they replace the greens with Bermuda grass. With that being said we played the east course. Fairways very good shape greens not so much. Hopefully next year they will replace the east greens. I've been playing this course for 30 years and love the way out.

The bag drop attendant made it known their tip was expected. Pro shop was fine. Course layout is great. Greens were too slow for good scores to happen. Will play again in the future and hope the greens are improved

Greens were very sandy and rolled accordingly. Fairways were beautiful and tee boxes good. Haven't played here in about 10 years. Didn't have the amenities that it used to but was still a good experience.
