Sea Trail – Jones
Course architect Rees Jones has been accredited with four of the last five renovations to the U.S. Open courses. The Rees Jones Course at Sea Trail, a 2006 U.S. Open Qualifier Course, recently underwent its own renovations, making it even more of a perennial favorite of both visitors and locals. The 1999 designer-approved renovations brought a more naturalized look with native grasses and wildflower plantings. This straightforward Rees Jones look is pleasing to the eye with generous mounded fairways, bordered by scenic lakes and water hazards on 11 holes, old oaks and towÂering pine trees. U.S. open Qualifier Course- 2006 Rated 4 STARS by Golf Digest- 2004 Golfweek Best Resort Course of Distinction- 2004/2005 Golfweek Best Course You Can Play- 2005 Golf Digest 50 Best Courses in Myrtle Beach- 2005 Golf Digest Top 100 Courses in North Carolina- 2006

View This ResortThis is a par 71 course. Perfect when i played. Distance control (not long distance) on each shot is imperative here. I have been golfing in myrtle beach for 27 years, played 76 different courses and Seatrail Jones is in my top 5. Also shot 73. Had birdie put on last hole that would have gave me 71 but i 3-putted. I am not a long hitter so this proves short knockers can shoot low scores on this one!!!!
What a perfect day to play golf. Good friends, mid 80's and no humidity. Haven't played here in years because I live on the south end in Pawleys Island. It was worth the trip. Everything was surprisingly dry after a couple of days of rain. Greens looked great and had a nice speed would have like to see them a little faster. Fairways were well covered and roughs had almost completely converted from the winter.
Was unsure about playing here when our group booked Sea Trails as part of our golf package. Read online of the issues the courses have had after going through bankruptcy, however, our group was surprised at how challenging the Jones course is. The course was wet but that was to be expected due to the rain the previous day, however it was well maintained from tee to green. The course had some challenging and scenic holes to include one hole that had 6 alligators on it...Most members of our group agreed that for the price the course offers a reasonably priced 18 holes that can be fun and challenging.
Played here 10+ years ago. Was looking late for an early tee time and they had 710. I was twosome and finished by 1030 with cart path only. Course is in real bad shape. Great layout but just a bad track. Play Farmstead, Thistle, Crow Creek, Sandpiper, tigers eye, Rivers Edge. Place is just in horrific shape all around. Staff was fine.
It was nice to play the Jones Course at Sea Trails after not playing any of the 3 courses in a few years. Some tees were a little rough and the greens were slow. They putted fine, just rolled slow compared to the other courses our group played. We used to play Sea Trails quite a bit and their greens were typically excellent. Overall, it's still a nice course design and our group enjoyed playing it again.
