Man O’ War Golf Club

Arm yourselves with the right clubs to take along to Man O’ War Golf Club in the Carolina Forest section of Myrtle Beach, where the golf course awaits with both daunting drama and divine design.

In 1996, world-renowned architect Dan Maples mapped out a battlefield of back-to-back island greens, including an unforgettable island on No. 9, and an overall par-72, 18-hole layout that dangerously winds around a 100-acre lake.

The nearly 7,000-yard Man O’ War golf course is also a fine specimen of beauty, seeded with Bentgrass greens and Bermuda grass across the fairways, tees and rough. The greens here, in fact, are among the area’s largest, with an average 10,000 square feet per putting surface.

Additional amenities include a marina-style clubhouse, practice range, putting green, chipping area and practice bunker.

Course was excellent value and as described.

Chris Miller on

The greens were in terrible shape. The rest of the course wasn't bad, but WOW, for $83 you would have thought you would have been on a very nice course. Put the green fees money into the greens.

Greg Grote on

Hadn't been to MB for 6 years, but always like to play MoW when we're in the area. The course doesn't require pinpoint accuracy, but overly errant shots may get punished. A few holes really require some local knowledge, or a fancy GPS, or you need to drive up and look, but most holes are pretty straightforward from looking at the scorecard. On this day, the greens were smooth and running at a nice medium pace, but were very firm ... full iron shots were leaving only small dents and taking big first hops. Staff were all pleasant. By far the biggest neagtive: as others have noted, you will definitely be cleaning goose crap off your shoes at the end of the round!

This was a great course that was plenty challenging for. Due to rain the traps were terrible they needed grooming. DO NOT PLAY BEACHWOOD AS THEY SCREWED ME OUT OF MY FEES EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THUNDERING AND LIGHTNING OUT. Here at man o war I loved the island greens.

Marcel on

Goose shit all over tee boxes.
Traps were inconsistent as far as sand quality and quantity... greens were recently punched. Fairways were Stellar. Had the course to ourselves.... at $59... too steep a price when compared to others placed in the area...

Shawn on

Fun and challenging course.

Played in late November. Rough was going dormant.....made the fairways stand out.....looked awesome. First group out as a twosome...played in less than 3 hours. Great day. Greens fast and true.

Ellen on

We only play for fun. This course was beautiful but way above our playing level. However we had a great time and just enjoyed the beauty. My husband golfs about once a week for fun but I golf very little-mainly when he needs a partner. We had a great time.

Keith on

nice course. lots of water.

John on

Used to be one of my favorite courses in MB. Condition is really slipping. So many geese you really have to watch your step.
