Lion’s Paw Golf Links

Lion’s Paw Golf Links in beautiful Ocean Isle, N.C., located just a short drive from Myrtle Beach, is widely considered to be legendary architect Willard Byrd’s best masterpiece.

This spectacular layout, which makes up the 72-hole Ocean Ridge Plantation’s Big Cat golf family, rivals Tiger’s Eye, Lion’s Paw and Panther’s Run in both beautiful scenery and ingenious design.

Nestled along a meandering tidal creek that empties into adjoining wetlands, this spacious, links-style course carries over a hilly terrain and around dense maritime forest.

The serene setting can be misleading. Lion’s Paw was awarded 4 stars by Golf Digest as well as being named in the “Top 50 Places to Play in Myrtle Beach” in part due to its deep, dangerous bunkers, natural water hazards and multi-tiered, MiniVerde greens.

I live here. They closed the course for two weeks. Tried to patch the greens. They are still unplayable. Bunkers are bone dry, cart paths are terrible. This course has been neglected for years. Too bad. Great layout.

Greens are the worst I have ever played, looked like mud dried in the sun and painted green. Personnel should be ashamed to except money to play this course, worst greens I have ever seen

Decent course, but not up to the same quality as Tiger's Eye or Leopard's Chase. Greens were ok, but not terrific...tee boxes were overgrown. Enjoyed the layout but was not as impressed as I was with Tiger or Leopard.

I had first tee time and they held us back and put 2 threesomes in front of us because they were locals And lived there. We missed our 2nd tee time since we are scouting for our yearly 40 friends group outing. Myrtle is next years destination. Pro shop gave us a very lame excuse that we needed to call pro shop 48 hrs ahead since we did not make the reservations directly with them. BOGUS excuse. Then they let out 2 more groups on the 10th since they were using both sides because the 2 locals 3 somes never checked in to stop them. We waited 25 minutes on the 10th tee. We will never return nor will our group use the so called Cat courses. Since you did not inform us of the 48 hour rule that the pro shop used as an excuse we will not be using your service either. This was the worst and poor excuse of Southern Hospitality we have ever experienced. 40 golfers may not make much of a difference, but the food and drinks we would have consumed would have made a small dent. Not to mention the word of mouth this will be generating.

greens had been sanded-no notice to me of very rough conditions-greens were almost unplayable

Very good.

A little too long for us , plus we played cart path only which made it even longer
