Eagle Nest Golf Club
Eagle Nest Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach is not only a natural habitat for flocks of golfers year-round, but for aviary wildlife as well, like the course’s namesake, known to nest high above in one of the course’s many Carolina pines.
Opened in 1971 by community-minded Dick Elliott, who helped put Myrtle Beach golf on the map, Eagle Nest was designed by Gene Hamm to perform as a gentle giant – boasting both generous playing areas and challenging hazards produced from Mother Nature. Renovations were made to the 40-year-old course and clubhouse in 2001.
Freshwater ponds and a blend of cypress, pine and willow trees abound in this par 72, nearly 7,000-yard championship course seeded with Bermuda grass on the greens and fairways. Your round will no doubt be enjoyable, but Eagle Nest is also renowned for creating memories with the “Grand Strand’s Toughest” final three holes.

View This ResortWe played this course twice during our week and found it was one of our best experiences on both occasions. The layout was forgiving, but it had challenging elements. Water hazards were interspersed throughout and required the golfer to be thoughtful about club selection. The first hole was wide open and particularly good to start the round. It allowed my wife and I some latitude to be aggressive with the driver and not worry about being out of bounds. Course condition was average for the area and greens a bit slow, but well maintained. Good range of tee boxes for different skill levels. I played from the whites and found the course length to be friendly (not long). Staff (starter and pro shop) were very amenable and allowed us to tee off early. Pace of play was very good the days we played.
My wife and I vacation in MB every two years. I always play Beachwood and then look to play two other courses. This course I will be playing again. It was in excellent condition. The people in the clubhouse were fantastic. I enjoyed every aspect of the day at Eagle Nest.
You'll never find a better deal than this hidden gem. Not brutal, but in good shape and very enjoyable. Better be able to flush a 3 iron on 18 or it will be ugly. The course also offered a nice relaxing country club atmosphere as well.
Greens and edges showed some damage on several holes (disease?). Very friendly staff and very playable course. Not a challenge for a good player, but it was for me (20 hip).
Enjoyable for my wife and I as it is not overly difficult and it is close to our accommodation. The confusion surrounding the booking made what should have been an enjoyable round very stressful.I will not be using your online booking system again. If you wish to discuss I am at 204 999-5504. I have been visiting Myrtle Beach for the past 6 years.Gerry Malone
Out of the four courses we played, this was our favorite. It was in great shape. Playing it again next trip.
All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Time of year with storms made conditions wet. Understandable.
