To apply an overused phrase from today's lexicon of sports terminology, the South Brunswick Islands are "Old School". As you drive up Highway 17 from North Myrtle Beach, and over the state line, Eagle stores and miniature golf courses give way to Mom and Pop seafood restaurants and quaint beach cottages.

The South Brunswick Islands are made up of a group of barrier islands that run from the world famous seafood capital of Calabash to the south, all the way to the Cape Fear River to the north. The scenery is unrivaled, as Carolina Oaks and Pines mix together to give the area a true mid-Atlantic feel.

Oh, and golf? Oh man is there golf. Over twenty championship courses dot the islands from Calabash to Holden Beach. Some tracks, like Holden Beach's Lockwood Folly, embrace the Intracoastal Waterway. Other courses, like the Calabash Golf Links, embrace the inland beauty of the area.

Ocean Isle Beach is the island in the middle of it all, and there is no shortage of charm, or golfing opportunities on this barrier island. Two championship golf courses, Brick Landing and the Ocean Isle Golf Club, put enough water in play to challenge any level of player.
