We have made a number of trips to Myrtle Beach. Most of the time we
have stayed at Ocean Lakes Camp Ground. They have camping sites for
trailers, and tents; in addition to renting campers. There is a community
center with events for children, a play ground, adult events, 2 swimming
pools, minature golf and many other activities. I'd reccommend them
to anyone. We just got back from our seventh annual vacation to Myrtle Beach.
This year there was a group of eighteen of us ( husbands, wives and
kids) and we all stayed at the OCEAN CREEK RESORT. What a place ! The
rooms were great (we stayed in the south tower) and the view was fantastic.
One of the rooms( 6th fl) even had a outdoor deck the size of both the
dinning room and kitchen put together. The pool area's were clean and
the lunches at the outdoor beach club were tasty and reasonably priced.
One real nice feature is that Barefoot Landing is right across the road
so we had easy access to restaurants and shopping. The grounds were
very clean and well kept . Another nice feature is the towers are so
far back from the road that your not bothered by road traffic noise.
While we were there we played Belle Tere, River Hills, LongBay and The
Pearl. I would recommend all of the courses with the exception of Belle
Tere. It was WAY over priced for a course that is nothing spectacular.
LongBay was tough (greens like glass) . The Pearl was my fav. We're
all looking forward to heading back next May. July 1997 my family and I stayed at the Bluewater Resort. When we
arrived, the room was filthy and smelled terrible. We finally got someone
to clean it, no apology really offered. The restaurant was non-functioning
and it took 45 min. to get an elevator from the 2nd floor!! However,
we made the most of it and enjoyed the pools. We have reservations at
Bar Harbor for July of 1998. Does anyone have any comments on this one?
Thanks!!! went to myrtle beach last july 97 stayed at sea mist not impressed
asked for low floor was given the highest floor asked for smoking given
non smoking going back this year thinking of the firebird motor inn
but would like something closer to pavillion etc... of course we want
clean rooms and low rates a pool lazy river is nice close enough to
walk to some restaurants please e-mail me soon 5-23-98 Bon Villa Ocean Front Resort: Actually, have reservations at this
Resort and have no idea what it looks like. Could I get some information
or a picture of the Bon Villa Ocean Resort. Caravelle Resorts: Have stayed in two locations: the Carolina Dunes
and the main hotel tower. Staff on both visits very helpful and courteous.
Were given refund of our remaining stay due to son's chicken pox without
question. Children's programs were entertaining for the younger set.
BEACH COVE OCEAN RESORT: This is the nicest FAMILY resort that we
found. I recently went to the beach (April 24) for Prom weekend. I plan to
return for Memorial Day Weekend--a tradition since 9th grade. Its real
fun and wild. For all you teenagers looking for a party after graduation-like
me- the breach is the place to be. Its going to be filled with phat
cars and opposite sexes that are just waiting to me new and exciting
people. Look for the drop dead gorgeous girl in the drop dead gorgeus
Cavalier or Amigo and that will be me and my cousin crusin the strip
till dawn. We stayed at a hotel called the Caravan. Its really nice!
The beach is the place to be Memorial Day Weekend. Its a small Freaknic!!!!!
Planning to Visit MB, mid July. Stayed at the Palace last year We
were very unhappy with our room. I don't know when it was used last
but it smelled very badly. There were no blankets. The front desk staff
were very rude. The housekeeping staff kind, but gone at 3 and you couldn't
get any blankets after they were gone. There were cigarette butts clogging
the garbage disposal and that was the source of the odor. The view is
beautiful and it has a nice location, but we are staying at the Crown
Reef this year. Any comments about this new hotel would be appreciated.
Thank you. 5/18/98 5-17-1998 I have been staying at the LandMark Resort Hotel for the
past three years. I love it and the children do also. It has three lazy
rivers including one for toddlers, large swimming pools, and seven or
eight hot tubs and most are in veiw of the lazy river to watch the children.
It is very affordable and unique from any other place in Myrtle Beach.
A note of Caution on NMB Condos and Jack & Marilyn Miller (proprieters?!!)
. They are extremely unscrupulous business people. Make sure that you
do not part with your money and have everything on refund policies and
last dates of cancellation down in writing as their dealings have been
less than friendly and helpful and business practices questionable.
Also, from accounts of a fellow couple, their last stay at NMB left
much to be desired. This is a submission in the interests of fellow
travellers to the area. These incidents date over a period of six months
since November 1998 and a pattern has emerged on this. Lazy G Motel: Weve been there twice, and were going back again in
June. Im not sure if its the atmosphere, or just the name, but Ive never
had a better time than when Im there Stayed at the Anderson Inn from May 2 thru May 11, 1998. Could'nt
wait to get out!!! Made reservations in March, sent deposit, received
confirmation with the balance due on the confirmation. (We have been
going to the beach for 11 years and staying at the Best Western Dayton
House. Thought we would try something different. We are going back to
the Dayton House next time!) When we got there they charged us almost
$200 more than what was due on the confirmation! They said whoever made
the reservations made a mistake and we are responsible to pay for their
mistake! Imagine how we felt! We had no choice but to pay or cancel
and forfeit the deposit and start looking for a room, and after driving
from Ohio we were in no mood to look. We went to our room- all I can
say is we have never seen such a dirty, smelly old room in all our travels.
We complained the next day and they moved us to a better (ha-ha)room.(COMPLETE
WITH COCKROACHES!) I could go on but it boils down to this! , DO NOT
BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ O N THE NET OR THEIR BROCHURES ABOUT HOW ANDERSON
INN TREATS YOU WITH SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY. This was probably the WORST
vacation we have experienced at the beach thanks to the Anderson Inn!
DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE! I will be writing a letter to the area
Chamber of Commerce lodging a complaint against them. If anyone else
has had bad experience with them, I would like to here from you. Kingston Plantation: It was not expensive and the accomadations were
WONDERFUL! I live in the Washington, D.C. area and the same accommodations
in my area would have been triple the cost. It is a fairly new establishment
with a terrific health club that included a sauna, tennis courts, aerobic
classes, nautilus equipment, racquetball, etc. The grounds are gorgeous
and the staff was friendly and helpful. It's also quiet. I would recommend
either the villas or the townhomes. Neither are oceanfront, but they
are both in walking distance of the ocean and would afford its' occupants
some privacy. They also come with all the conveniences of home with
a washer/dryer, full kitchen, etc. They are also wonderful if you are
traveling with a group of people like I was because they have 2-3 bedrooms.
They are also decorated very, very nice. It is a 4-5 star quality establishment.
When I went to the beach, we stayed in the Ocean & Sands Dune.
The place is a great place to stay when go with the family. It is very
quite and peaceful atmoshpere. Now they have a new condo that was under
construction when I went down, I had saw the previews of the rooms,
it was great. It come with It two bedroom suite with a kitchen, dining
room, and a bathroom. You have got to come and see it, Believe me it
is nice. Happy Holiday Motel: pleasant - courteous clean For the last 4 years we have stayed atTilghman Lakes in N orth Myrtle
Beach. This codominium project has everything you need.It is across
the street from the beach with The Surf Golf course behind the condos.
They have 2 bed- rooms,2baths,and a nice swimming pool with a hot tub.
We stay in unit M-1 which has 3TV,s and a VCR. The beach here is very
wide and you are close to many restaurants and golf courses. It is a
great place to take a family as the condos are very big inside. It is
located on 1801 North Ocean Boulevard and can be rented by calling Joseph
Mcmillan Reality at 1-800-248-1481. 5/5/98 I have stayed at Coral Beach on two business trips and have found
the hotel to be not only an exceptional value but a great experience.
The staff has always been friendly and efficient at check-in & check-out
and the security guards could be seen cruising the parking deck with
regularity. I have rented the executive suite both visits and they have
always been clean & stocked with plenty of towels. The on-site restaurant
serves a fried shrimp dinner that was better than my last two trips
to Murrell's Inlet. Coral Beach does a great job with every aspect of
their hotel and I look forward to going back. P.S. Your link to the
hotel is wrong. I think the URL has changed. May 5, 1998 We haven't been to MB yet but I wanted to comment on my
experience with Sea Mist Resort with regards to reservations. I saw
a Family Package special for $550 on the web and contacted Sea Mist
to confirm the info. I was told that the rate is only for rooms and
not suites. We're looking for a 2 room efficiency or suite since we
have 2 small children. The person I spoke with advised me that for an
extra $125, she will give me the family package. I said I'd call back
as I wanted to share this info with my husband. I ended up calling back
the next day to make the reservation but the person I spoke with said
that they cannot give me a suite for the $550 family package even with
the $125 that I was told earlier. At any rate, I just want to comment
that Sea Mist needs to train their employees to give out correct information.
I'm also wondering if had I jumped on the $550 special plus $125 for
a suite the first time I called, would we have been told differently
when we arrived. Anyway, I'll continue to surf the net for info on accomodations
and we're looking forward to our July vacation at MB! CROWN REEF - April 1998. Very nice hotel. Appeared to be one of the
nicer places in South Mrytle Beach. We really enjoyed the 20 swimming
pools, saunas and lazy river. Rooms were better than average, ours had
a small kitchen. Very reasonable breakfast and lunch specials. Enjoyed
eating at the NASCAR Cafe and really enjoyed the Medievil Times dinner
and show. Martinique: This hotel has an ideal location and the rooms are exceptional.
The service was great and I really enjoyed my stay. The beach was at
our doorstep and at night the sounds of the ocean were very relaxing. My
chose overall was the MARTINIQUE!!!! The SeaWatch Resort - just returned from there and it was spectacular
- beautiful rooms, outdoor pools, lazy river and lagoons filled with
baby ducks! Nicest condo I have been in at Myrtle with great ocean views.
We definitely will return there again. me and my wife just returned from a 3-day weekend to myrtle beach,it
was my first time there, being from n.c. i've always gone to atlantic
beach, it really pales in conparison,we were very impressed with the
CAPTAINS QUARTERS,its in the heart of myrtle beach but far enought away
from the pavilion that its very quite, and very clean.BROADWAY AT THE
BEACH, is great, and the, THE DIXIE STAMPEDE, is well worth the cost, got
to go back we could'nt do it all in just three days.......b&j. We vcationed at MB Aug.,97 for 1st time and stayed at Sea Mist Resort,
was not very impressed. We found the room and various swimming pools
dirty. Planning another vacation for July 4th. looking for alternative
beachfront hotel. Have two kids 4 and 11 any suggestions? Ocean Creek Resort: Every Year, for the past 10 years I have to Myrtle
Beach. I have stayed in many places and out of all of the places I stayed
Ocean Creek Resort was by far the nicest. I was disappointed to see
that you did not have that as one of your selections. I thought maybe
you would want to put it on your list. Thanks. My wife and I are planning another trip to Myrtle Beach this August
1998. This a GREAT PLACE for a vacation. Some of our favorite spots
are The Hard Rock Cafe, IMAX theater, Ripley's Aquarium (This is awesome!),
gift shops at Broadway at the Beach, and of course the unlimited number
of minature putt putt. The places that did not impress us much are Barefoot
Landing (shops are real expensive), Planet Hollywood ( the food stunk),
and Bennet's Calabash. We stayed at the Caravell Resort our first year
and it was great but a little pricey for our budget. Our previous visit
we stayed at the Capri Court which was so so. It smelled of cigarettes,
the parking was a hassle, and it had a unusual driveway that went beside
the lawn area. We are planning to stay at the Roxanne Motel or the Poindexter
this year. I would appreciate any experiences or recommendations for
these motels or any other motel that is reasonably priced and CLEAN!!
PLEASE E-MAIL ME I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was 12 (I am 18 now) and
I love it. We always stay at the Apache Campground. Many of you resort
stayers and condo renters would be surprised at the cleanliness of this
campground. You can bring your own camper or rent one of theirs. The
staff is very nice and always willing to help. There is a Trading Post,
a clean pool, a park, an arcade and a clean laundry room. We cannot
forget the Apache Pier, the longest pier on the east coast. With live
bands, fishing, linedancing and a restauraunt, who could resist? See
you in July! 4/16/98 SLEEP INN: new motel and needed to have a chanch to be heard about
My husband and I and our 4 children have visited Myrtle BEACH FOR
the past 15 years . We have stayed the most at Arcadian Dunes on LAKE
Arrowhead Road. WE love going to the beach and laying in the sun in
front of Ocean Annies . We have several families we vacation with every
year and it is like a reunion to meet at Ocean ANNIES. This year we
will be going in AUG 15 - 22 1998. WE love the shopping places such
as Barefoot Landing and BROADWAY AT THE BEACH. SOME other places we
have stayed our Pelicans Landing and The Place at the Beach. WE LOVE
IT IN MYRTLE BEACH. I have been going to MB since I was 12 and I love it. My family stay
at The Apache CAmpground on Kings Highway. Every year, we go to Wild
Water and Wheels water park. It is something we all look forward to
every year and I encourage you all to visit the Apache Pier, the longest
pier on the East Coast! See you on June 31st! beach cove resort: i found the accommodations to be very clean and
comfortable. the pool area is one of the most refreshing areas that
i have ever lounged around. beautiful place Yacthsman: Beachside and on the strip. Very nice condos and wonderful
views. What more can you ask for. We have been going to MB for about 7 years for dance competitions.
We are confined by the competition dates ----- around the July 4th holidays
so we are in peak season. We have about 40 families going and we can't
seem to negotiate discounted prices for this volume. We like your site, but we were wondering could you please add the
Rockin K Motel to your listings? This has been our favorite motel to
stay in. The managers, R.C. McCord, and Buddy Kidd, are the nicest people.
They interact with all their guests and the children. The provide the
cleanest rooms, singles and efficiencies at vary reasonable rates. We
have stayed there every summer for the past 5 1/2 years. We wouldn't
dream of staying anywhere else if we dont have to. They are located
at 1619 South Ocean Boulevard, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582. Telephone
#'s are: (843) 272-8231 and Toll Free 1-800-477-8231. By far this is
the best place to stay. Inground pool, parking and beach front. Absolutely
beautiful and its only 14 miles from the pavilion but without alot of
traffic. Highly recommend this motel to anyone. Respectfully submitted
this 8th day of April 1998. The Miller Family Carl, Janet, Kyle, Keith
and Allison Polynesian Resort- we stayed there two years ago and had a wonderful
experience. Great facilities and excellent beach location. It certainly
is not "plush" but definately suits vacation needs. Very clean.
Great pools (indoor and outdoor), whirlpools, etc. Was also great having
an on-site laundry facility. We're headed back to the Polynesian this
July and couldn't be happier. Try and get a room on one of the upper
floors (8-9) for a great view! I go to Myrtle Beach almost every summer and for the last 2 years
I have stayed a month or more at Myrtle Beach Travel Park, the best
place in the world. We usually all bring our bicycles and/or rollerblades
but are yet to find the bike paths or places for rollerblading. Could
someone please let me know where they are so we can enjoy our sports
while we are enjoying Myrtle Beach. Thanks a lot. This message was sent
on April 5, 1998. from Montreal Canada. 4/4/98 This is in regards to a nice place to stay that is reasonably
priced, newly opened, and located ocean front within walking distance
to both carnivals for those of us who have kids. The name is WINDSURFER
1-800-789-3123 I will be going to Myrtle Beach for Memorial Day Weekend (go every
year) and I was wondering if anyone can give me their opinion on the
Beach Colony Resort. I have stayed at Water's Edge, The Palms, Ocean
Creek, Ocean Park, and Fairfield Westwinds, along with a few others.
No real complaints about any of these. 4/2/98 Dear Folks, When I was reading through the reader/consumer comments
section, I was looking for a condo and was hoping to get some leads.
When I did see something I was excited about..there were no phone numbers/addresses
to contact. For example a reader would say they stayed at a certain
condo, got great service and would go there again, etc. But then there
was no contact # s...so I'm left searching the web. Maybe you could
ask readers/consumers to add addresses/phone #s of the places they make
comments about. thanks for listening, Kathleen I recently had an experience I'd like to share with your readers.
I had made reservation with Grand Strand Vacations for a last minute
condo on the ocean for easter vacation. Let me first say that these
folks were the most pleasant and accomodating of the realty services
I talked with. When they couldn't get me in the condo I wanted (which
I didn't really expect being we're so close to easter vacation) they
did their best to find me a condo close to my original choice and at
a reasonable price). When I had to cancel due to my chemotherapy being
scheduled for that week (I have Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) They were very
understanding and gave me an excellent refund on my $200 deposit. They
derserve my future business and anyone else that's looking for a place
in Myrtle Beach. By the way, my cancelled condo is up for grabs...ocean
front for 4-11-98 thru 4-18-98 @ a price you'll be pleased with. give
them a call 1-800722-6278 or e mail gsrealty@sccoast.net (even their
phone # is toll free, which many others are not) very nice folks!! thanks
for listening, Kathleen we are planning our vacation for Myrtle beach... will be there in
July. Just needing to know if anyone has stayed at the Myrtle beach
Resort???? We are booking a 2 bedroom condo there..In the past we have
stayed at Sea Crest The Palace had friends stay at Polynesian and Landmark...
The Palace had excellant 2 bedroom condo's, Sea Crest has excelland
rooms, service and pools etc..... The polynesian was a lower grade motel
but cheaper prices.. The Landmark was beautiful with lots of things
to do.... we would appreciate and comments on The Myrtle Beach Resort..
Thank you!!! Kingston Plantation condos: The price is all inclusive--even taxes,
linens etc. The units are wonderfully furnished, oceanfront. Lots of
fabulous ammenities and so convenient to all the restaurants, shows
and shops Court Capri:It is the cleanest motel we have ever stayed in. We come
to Myrtle Beach every year and try different places. We always end up
at Court Capri. It is close to Broadway on the Beach ( which we love!).
The only bad thing about it is that they don't have 2 br eff. If we
take the grandparents, it just doesn't have the bigger places. But it
is by far the best motel on the strand. Was leafing through the Myrtle Beach webb site when I came accros
this site and thought I would add my comments. My wife and I stayed
at the Days Inn, 77th Street North, for two months (January and February)
last year and will do so again this year commencing Januaryt 9, 1998.
My wife in particular found the rooms to very clean and comfortable,
maid service was excellant and the Office Staff was outstanding and
filled every request immediately and completely. crown reef: i stay there and had a good time . the cafe in the motel
has cheap meals oceanfront, serparte bedrooms, king size beds, two tv's,
in room jacusze, free coffee cups, its really a nice place for the price.
Here is a neat little Mom & Pop motel thats right in the middle
of the Grand Strand . Just a two minute walk to the Pavillion. Check
out the Bay Shore Motel. Ocean Front Approx. $80.00 / night Room - just
the basics, small kitchen, bath, ac, nothing fancy. Nice people run the
place. Our family is looking to return to Myrtle Beach this spring (we have
missed it the last few years). We have always stayed at OCEAN CREEK
and would like to make accommodations for Ocean Creek again for 7 nights
commencing Apr.11/98. Ocean Creek is the altimate for a family vacation!
The 2 oceanfront condo towers are great! One has an indoor/outdoor pool
and they both have excellent suites including washer/dryer facilities
and include everything you could ask for. I highly recommend them! In
past years we have booked through Compass Vacations. They book units
that are owned by private people and are a little less expensive than
booking through the resort itself. We are having a tough time getting
a unit at this time! Please let us know if something is available! Thanks,
Sher. Wind Surfer: This is a very well kept hotel. It's very presentable,
pleasing to the eye, and best of all the staff is very friendly. I love
this hotel! Buckie N. Boone, NC Dayton Hotel: We were very pleased with our room and with the service
I was just looking at the Viewer Picks and I can't believe that THE
REEF was listed as one of them! It could be better now but when we stayed
there 3 years ago I found a roach crawling in the kitchen cabinet! We
immediately requested to be moved to another room. No bugs in this one
but certainly not clean. There were Doritos under the bed which stayed
there the length of our stay. Also the elevators broke down during the
week so we had to use the stairs to the 9th floor for 2 days. The lobby
is nice and very deceiving. The rooms just don't measure up to it! Calypso Motor Inn: This is the greatest, most relaxed place to stay
at Myrtle Beach!! They have wonderful rates and just a great comfortable
environment. Has anyone stayed at the "Blue Water Resort", "Windsurfer"
or the "Emerald Shores" motel? We are still in search of a
nice place to stay in MB. We have stayed at the "Seacrest"
and the "Meridian Plaza" to find these hotels were pretty
run down (wallpaper peeling, broken furniture and dust a inch thick).
The "Gazebo Inn" is the only place in MB that we have stayed
at more than one time but it doesn't fulfill all of our needs. We like
seperate sleeping and living areas with a sofa in the living area. Thanks
in advance for any info you can give me on the resorts I have mentioned.
Captains Quarters: I have stayed at Captains Quarters a couple of
times and it is a very nice hotel. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and have 3 wonderful
children. However we felt we needed some time to ourselves so we live
pretty close to MB (in charleston,sc) so we decided to take a quick
trip down for the weekend as a sorta 2nd honeymoon getaway. We stayed
at the Yachtsman! What a view! We were on the 20th floor oceanfront!
We bought shrimp at the local seafood market and cooked it right in
our room! The room was all windows! We sat at our table eating our shrimp
dinner and drinking wine watching the birds fly around outside the room.
It seemed you cld reach out and touch them! We sat on the balcony and
watched the sun come up in the morning. We were so high up we could
see forever out in the ocean! The room had a great kitchen area, 1 bedroom
and a jacuzzi! We did nt leave our room all weekend! We stocked up on
groceries and spent real time together! I would insist on anyone having
this experience to strengthen you realationship. A friend recently got
married and she spent her honeymoon in the same room we did.(not with
us) She still talks about it all the time! It is a true getaway! Magnolia Place Vacations: New 1 & 2 bedroom condo property located
on Myrtlewood Golf course. Units include golf course views, full kitchens
and washer/dryers. Staff was able to put together golf and vacation
packages. Located in central Myrtle Beach and only blocks away from
Broadway at the Beach. Great location and out of the hustle and bustle
of the "Strip". Recently we had a marvelous GOLF extraviganza with eight (8) of us
that work together. We trusted Helms Vista Motel (part of seaside properties)
with our accommodations and reservations (we know them as tee times!).
Our vacation was flawless! We had great accommodations, we also requested
both AM and PM tee times with various premium and non premium golf courses.
The one stop communications with Helms Vista Motel staff worked out
extremely well for us. All of the courses were expecting us, we had
one person hand in our voucher for the golf (with carts) and we had
zero problems with the arrangements. All of the courses were expecting
us and welcomed us! There were no surprise costs! The people at Helms
Vista Motel were also very nice people with which to interact! I am
sure we will have them help us enjoy other vacations to the Myrtle Beach
area for a golfing vacation in the future! -Dave- caroline's bed and breakfast: it was the cutest little place. very
comfortable, and affordable i loved i'ts location, and am going back
We will be going to Myrtle Beach this year for about my 15th time.
We try to go every year and always go the 3rd or 4th week in August.
My kids(ages 11,7,and 3) have a blast and if given a choice (Myrtle
Beach or Disney) they always choose Myrtle Beach! I know that may be
hard to believe but its true. They love the miniature golf, the waterparks,
the go-kart parks, the beaches and the pools at the hotels. They also
love the souvinear shopping at Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landings.
We like all the choices to eat and all the price ranges also , we find
that with a family of 5 this can be a very inexpensive vacation for
us. We are staying at the Long Bay Resort this year for the first time.
We are getting an ocean front suite for 105 a night plus 10% off for
a 7 night stay. It was just rebuilt last year so everything should be
fairly new and we can't wait to try it out. As usual my husband and
my son and the grandparents will be golfing also. We are already trying
to decide what to pack and are eagerly anticipating our trip. submitted
by Amy Webber (golfwebb@aol.com) Went to Myrtle Beach first week of June of 1997--very, very rainy
and cold. We stayed at Shoreham Towers thru Advantage Vacations,at North
Myrtle Beach, the room was not clean, had to wait about 2-3 hours before
someone came to clean room. Had a three bedroom condo and paid enough
money, can't say I would ever there stay again. No security in parking
lot. After room was finally clean, had trouble with dishwasher, sinks,
and tubs--had to call to have someone come and unclog them. We are planning
to go back this year 1998, but would like info on Flagship Inn, seems
to be small motel, (from the brochure)but looks very clean--am I being
deceived?? If anyone has experience with this motel in Myrtle beach
area, please let me know. I do not want to have a second bad experience
with rooms. Anyone with experience with Flagship Inn, please let us
know. We are not looking for anything fancy, but would appreciate clean.
THANKS!!!! My family and I are planning to go to North Myrtle this summer and
would be interested in any comments anyone may have regarding Condotels
in North Myrtle or Surfside Beach and also Carolina Reef Condos owned
by Mercedes Properties in North Myrtle. We have brochures from both
of these and are considering making reservations in the next couple
of days. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Sea Mist Resort: Got a Great Room out of season with an ocean front
room for a very low price. Clean, easy to get to, great access to beach.
I chose to vote this way for two different reasons. When I moved down
here to Myrtle Beach, we stayed at the Landmark Resort Hotel while we
were here and found it to be outstanding. It was a very stressful time
for us trying to find a place to live and the staff here was extremely
helpful in helping us relieve that stress by getting us into the townhouse
we are liviving. As fate would have it I am now working at the Landmark
Resort hotel because of not only of my ability, but the references I
received from my future co-workers. I am now in a career that is more
fullfilling, less stressfull and overall fun to wake up and going to.
Life doesn't get anybetter than this. Keep in mind I was a paramedic,
Saving lives was the biggest high I could get, besides delivering a
babies, but now, I get as much satifaction out of making sure people
are getting exactly what they asked for when they made their reservations
and if they got some defficientcies, it's my job to rectify those problems.
People remember you alot more for that, they do. So Look up the Landmark
Resort Hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC. internet address is: Http://www.landmarkresort.com
Will be glad to hear from ya! Take Care Patrick Clarke Dir. of Public
Information Services Crown Reef: Very clean, unique, friendly service, and I like the way
the hotel lights up in purple lights. My husband and I went to Mrytle Beach for our honeymoon 4 years ago
and we stayed in Murrells Inlet in the Brookwood Inn. It was so nice
to be so close to Mrytle Beach but yet far enough away from all the
traffic and noise. The Inn was very family oriented and it had a nice
swimming pool. Pelican's Landing and Pelican's Watch are Condos in North Myrtle Beach:
I have been to this condo a number of times and have found it to be
relaxing and enjoyable. This complex seems to be in the middle of everything.
I hope you will add this to your list of condos. I am sure whoever stays
there will find it to be a pleasurable, worthwhile, and enjoyable experience.
March 3, 1998 Places to stay while in Myrtle Beach- The Hampton Inn
at Northwood is nice, reasonable, and clean. It offers a continental
breakfast and has free cable and the second and third person in the
room stays free! March 3, 1998 I just returned from Myrtle Beach recently and I had
the greatest time there with friends from school! We decided that we
needed a new place to go, so we decided why not a place with many different
things to do, a good beach, and many, many compliments? And so we did-
I convinced my teacher that it was time to take a trip! We left from
Florida around 8:00 in the morning and went on I-95 all the way up to
South Carolina. Make sure that you stop and get some breakfast at Waffle
House or Cracker Barrel. The stop in Brunswick and Jessup, Georgia (7A,
US 25 and 341) is a great stop for breakfast and dinner. They offer
a nice, clean Cracker Barrel and IHOP restaurant. There is a Howard
Johnson's (make sure to stop there for ice cream because their flavors
are the best), a Shoney's, a Quincys Family Restaurant, and many more
places to eat. Entering South Carolina is good- we got to Myrtle Beach
at around 8:30 PM and stayed at the Hampton Inn at Northwood. What a
nice hotel- it offers a continental breakfast and has a clean area for
swimming. You also get free HBO and local calls- CHILDREN 18 OR YOUNGER
STAY FREE! (And THAT was a miracle- we're all 16 and 17!) Broadway at
the Beach is a must because it offers EVERYTHING! It has an IMAX theatre
offering a show every hour, a Ripley's Sea Aquarium with so much to
offer, and some of the greatest places to eat such as the Nascar Cafe
and Planet Hollywood. The Hard Rock Cafe is not as nice as the other
two- the food seemed to be not well prepared at the time and our waitor
was rude- also lines there are too long. I do like their gift shop,
though. Briarcliffe Mall is alright- it has a Belk,K-Mart, JC Penney's,
a Limited, and more. The Pavillion is major fun- it offers a roller
coaster!! For good dining on North King's Highway, try the Olive Garden
or Garcia's Mexican Restaurant- the food there is delicious! Also try
Medieval Times- it has great chicken! Magic On Ice is very good. I'm
going back here again! Good luck on your next trip! Myrtle Beach is where I grew up, and I sure do miss it! I now live
in Kansas. Anyway, if your interested in nice inexpensive hotels, I
recommend the Sea Dip. It is located on the ocean across from Myrtle
Square Mall, and just minutes away from Barefoot Landing and Restaurant
Row (that's what we call North Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand). As far
as the nightlife goes, I suggest going to 2001, located in North Myrtle.
There are 3 different dance floors, and the club spotlights women! The
owners know that wherever there is women, there are bound to men right
on their heels! So, if your single, head to 2001! The Headroom is a
wonder- ful placeto go for the younger of-age drinkers. They feature
some top name artists, and local talents too. The two story dance club
is where you go to pppppaaaaarrrrrrttttttyyyyyy! Not to mention, their
black lights will make you go blind! If you love to eat good seafood
and steak, Knickerbockers On The Water in Barefoot Landing is wonderful
and inexpensive! Just tell them Tina sent you! Maybe they'll give you
a discount!!! Last but not least, if you're in the mood for a good show
with dinner, the Dixie Stampede is the place to go! I worked there as
a saloon girl, and boy was it fun! They start you off with a wonderful
saloon show, then move you into the arena for an exciting horseback
rivalery b/w the North and the South! Not to mention you have to eat
with your hands! Hope I have been of help to some of you first timers!
Have a good time! Tropical Winds: We made reservations Winter of 97 for our summer vacation
in Myrtle Beach. We thought the Tropical Winds seemed moderately priced
and the location appeared good. To our surprise when we arrived, the
place was a total mess. The smell was unbearable and the place needed
a total renovation. Needless to say, we will not return to Tropical
Winds. Helms Vista: Great service for a terrific price... The people there
are very helpful and there is not a better oceanfront value in Myrtle
Beach ramada inn at pawleys island: it was so cool to drive your cart right
up to your room becasue the hotel was between the 1st and 9th hole.
it is located near at least ten top courses including the tpc and the
new one true blue which was awesome. i highly recommned you put this
one in the list This will be our fifth year at Myrtle Beach and we enjoy it very much.
We find the beach spotless and the food is great. This year we are staying
at the Indigo. The view is great and the service is very accommodating.
While you are there visit Cracker Barrel and K & W Cafeteria. Hope
you enjoy your visit. Our family has not yet travelled to Myrtle Beach, BUT we have already
encountered problems booking accommodations with one hotel in particular...The
staff at the Surf and Dunes obviously do not enjoy their jobs as they
seem to care less if their guests (to be) are happy. We originally booked
accom for 4adults-3kids, and were gvn a resrv#, when I called back ltr
the sm day with my cr crd info, I was tld there was no resrvn in my
name. Aftr a long discussion, it turned out the rep did make our resrv
but accidentally put anthr guests' name on it...it was corrected, but
no appology offerd--after all "it was a computer error". Two
weeks later I called back to inqure if we cld make a sml change in our
resrvn.."yep" was the respnse...but again they cldnt find
my reservation as they spelled the name wrong, but it wasn't their fault,
I must have spelled my own name wrong to beging with!!...After speaking
to the very friendly people at The Sea Dip, my family decided we would
be more comfortable there...when I called to cancell with Surf'n Dunces(dunes)
they advised me I would hv to pay a $15 (non)service charge, for what
service?..when I advised the rep of the lack of professionalism in a
cust serv industry, she simply repeated hotel policy..AND NOT ONE SORRY
FOR THE INCONVIENCE was uttered...If they keep treating people this
way, they'll soon find themselves playing alot of solitaire!!!! Feb17/98
My family and I have benn to Myrtle Beach on vacation for the past
two years, and we will be returning again this summer. We stay at the
Tilghman Beach and Raquet Club in North Myrtle Beach. Very nice 3 bedroom
condo on the beach. My children ages 12 and 16 love it. There is so
much to do for children and adults alike. My favorite is the Medieval
Times. Great entertainment for the children. We usually vacation in
June and the weather has always been great. Best restaurant for us is
"Benjamins". Great family vacation sport. The Inn: We vacation at Myrtle Beach yearly, and have stayed at several
locations. After we found the Inn we have never stayed anywhere else.
We love the convenience, and location of the Inn. We always get a room
on the first floor ---this is great, especially if you have children.
You can step out the sliding glass door, and your on the beach. No carrying
tons of things for the kids on, and off elevators, up, and down stairs.
My family loves The Inn. I go to Myrtle Beach every year in October. We have stayed at a few
different places. We stayed at Pirateland Family Campground and Lakewood
Family Campground. I also have stayed at Horizon East. It is a place
that has 9 floors of condinummins. It has an outdoor pool and a indoor
jucuzzi and sonia. If you are looking for a good place to stay thenSTAY
AT HORIZON EAST!!!!! You will love it and you will hate to leave. Right
by the ocean. We stay in my uncles condo there which is on the8th floor
and a butiful view on the baclony. Only problem for me is that he is
selling it for $150,200. and I don't have enough money to buy it. 2/10/98
Mrytle Beach is great!! My husband and I, and all of our kids have
been coming there for the last 9 years. Started in 1989, it was our
honeymoon, with our kids!! Now all of our kids are grown up, and some
have family's of their own, and now, we all go, kids, and grandkids.
We always find something to do, but our favorite thing is being on the
beach, playing volleyball, or some sort of game, whatever we come up
with, and soaking up the rays, swimming, and going to Ocean Annies.
And of course, drinking lots of beer!! We will be there 6/6/98 untill
6/13/98. We have always rented a condo from Chicora Rentals, and have
always been happy with them. SEE YA IN JUNE!!:):) Went to Myrtle in October '97 for the first time and it was great!
Golfing for me, shopping for the wife, great food and real nice condo
we rented. The condo owners gave me a real good deal. Give them a call(410
997 4559) and see if they have anything open for your vacation. We are
going back again March/April. Enjoy! We have visited Myrtle Beach for 3 years now. We first stayed at the
Caravelle. It is fine but do not stay on the seventh floor by the hot
tub. Parties all night long. We also stayed at the Captain's Quarters.
The room was very nice but the rest of the hotel was a little run down.
We like the Crown Reef the best of the 3. The hotel is beautiful and
it is removed from downtown somewhat. The breakfast prices and lunch
prices are unbelievably cheap and the food is good. There is a Damon's
on the ocean right beside it and a pier is close by. A putt putt par
3 is right across the street. We would definitely stay there again.
Wife and I just returned from our 5th trip in 2+ years. These are
a few of our faves..... My husband and my two sons go to Myrtle Beach just about every year!!!
We love it. The Patricia Grand North is awesome for families. The original
Benjamin's Calabash is the best. Look for early bird Qpons!!! Have fun!!!
My family and I are planning our summer trip to the beach. No need
to say which beach as Myrtle is the ONLY beach. We would like to stay
oceanside somewhere near the Grand Strand Pavilion. Would really like
to stay in a newer hotel but don't want to spend outrageous amount.
Any ideas? We've always stayed at Holiday Sands and haven't had a bad
experience yet, but we'd like to try something different this year.
Janet Plantation Resort: Indoor and outdoor pools, away from congestion
of Downtown area, close to restaurants and attractions. And we love
the golf courses right outside our door! My family and I just visited Myrtle Beach for the first time. We spent
three days which included New Years Day. It's a beautiful and wonderful
place to visit and we intend to go back many times in the future. I
only had one unpleasant incident and that was at the place we stayed,
Blue Water Resort. Several weeks prior to our trip, I called and made
reservations and was assured that I had a water-front room reserved
for three nights including New Years Eve. When I arrived I was informed
that I had reservations for only two nights, which exluded New Years
Eve. No confirmation statement had been sent out to me. The manager,
Mr. Gorey, was rude with an attitude of not caring at all. He offered
me a side room which I had no choice but to accept at the same price
as the water-front rooms. Talking to other vacationing residents, I
learned that not many were pleased with the resort. They cited various
reasons including poor service. I would not recommend Blue Water Resort
as a place to stay. Next time, we intend to stay at one of the many
other resorts, never at Blue Water Resort. My husband and I bought a condo last Feb. ('97) on Deertrack Golf
Course. Funny thing is, we don't golf. He's a tennis buff and I like
the pool and jacuzzi and of course, the shopping. If anyone is looking
for a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo to rent e-mail us j_wcaulfield@jerseycape.com
My husband and I honeymooned at Mrytle Beach last year. His first
time, mine too many to count! We went from June 29th through July 5th.
It was the best time I think either of us could have ever had! We stayed
at the Palace Resort in a Sun Room/Ocean View and loved every minute.
My only complaint was not enough elevators, and we were on the 14th
floor. Other than that our stay was wonderful. And we weren't seeing
that through Rose Colored Glasses. We think Mrytle is tops, and plan
to go back again this year. We've been going to MB for last 5 years, took a hiatus last year for
Mickey World. We always go week after labor day when rates are down, crowds
down, prices down, and spirits are up.Often there is gridlock leaving
as we are arriving. We always stay at Captains Quarters and are never
disappointed. It's a top pick for off season with (1)20 bowling lanes
(2)inside lazy river ride (3)inside pool and spas (4)sheltered parking
and (5)top floor restaurant.Rooms are clean (esp new section) and service
is good.My minivan needed jump and attendent was there in 3 min.Car
is never hot as a fox in a forest fire in sheltered parking lot.See
ya in May. J&K (1/12/98) Went to Myrtle Beach the first time in Feb. '97. Like it so much we
ended up buying a 2 bedroom/2bath condo on Deertrack Golf Course, which
we rent out, reasonable rates, when we're not there. Funny thing is,
my husband and I don't golf. There's a pool and jacuzzi right outside
our enclosed patio. And the beach is about a 5 minute drive. Tennis
courts are a 2 minute walk. If you'd like more info on renting e-mail
us j_wcaulfield@jerseycape.com 01/13/97 I will be visiting Myrtle Beach this year for the second
time ever and I can hardly wait. We're trying to locate a nice hotel
that is affordable and close to everything. We previously stayed at
the Swamp Fox and loved it, but now that we have an infant we would
like to get something closer to the pavilion. We finally got some great
rates from a place called the Bermuda Sands and we're looking to get
some feedback on your experience there. Let us know. Thank you!!! Captains Quarters gives you the feeling they want you there and appreciate
your business. The rooms are very roomy and the rules about in room
after 11pm makes the vacation more enjoyalbe to those that have kids
and are not interested in drinking and partying all night. I have stayed
at places where I got no rest because of drunks and people who sleep
all day to party all night. Doesn't make our vacation very enjoyable
.I have stayed at thisd hotel now twice and will probley stay again.
The covered lazy river helps to keep the kids from getting sun burnt
and the atmosphere is great. We went to Myrtle Beach last year, taking 9 teen-age girls to a competition.
Do not go "Condotels". Condo was not the accomodations we
were told,we had no phone for 2 days. Sheets were piled on the beds
when we got there (dirty ones), had not been vacuumed. Coulldn't call
for help; had to make trip 3 miles to office for each plea. Filthy!!!
Palace is the only place for us. Tried a new one===got stung!! Don't
you!! They told us.."Make the best of it or return your key! No
refunds!!" The Simmons My boyfriend and I visited Myrtle Beach 7/23/97-7/27/97 and stayed
at the new OCEAN DRIVE BEACH & GOLF RESORT. Like one person stated,
it was still under construction, however, it was still a great place
to stay. While the indoor facilities (pool, sauna, hottub) were not
yet finished, it was the middle of July--who wants to spend their time
indoors when you're right on the beach. We plan to stay there again
in the future. It was a great experience! My husband and I were at Myrtle Beach during the week of July 4, 1997.
We stayed at Carevelle Resorts (St. Clementine). We thought that it
was a little over-priced for the room that we got. The room was clean
but it was rather small. The Hotel is a round building and the room
that we got was supposed to be oceanfront, I considered it to be more
oceanview. The main thing that I didn't like was the fact that you had
to walk next door to the main building for anything that you wanted
such as ice, towels, washing machines. etc... I did not like that, considering
that I am sure that we were paying just as much as the people in the
main building. We are planning on going back this July, and considering
renting a 2-3 bedroom condo in either Surfside or Garden City. Any Suggestions
on some nice ones??? We have a cocker spaniel that we would really like
to take with us, but have not been able to find anywhere that will take
pets. If anyone knows of anyplace, please let me know. My family and I are going to Myrtle Beach during Spring break for
the fourth time in April. We have stayed at Tropical Winds Resort and
the Regency Towers and enjoyed both places. This year we are staying
at the Swamp Fox Towers in South Myrtle and I was wondering if anyone
had any comments or information about it. Also if you have any questions
about Myrtle or any other Hotels I would happy to help you if I can.
Thanks TAKE IT FROM A GUY WHO LIVES HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the weather is
very unpredictable. it could be 30 or it could be 60. it could rain
but you never know. if you want CLEAN, INEXPENSIVE LODGINGS that are
CENTRALLY LOCATED look no further. stay at THE CALYPSO MOTOR INN. rooms
are very clean. they are remodeling one of the three bldgs. right now.
rooms are the cheapest in town. they are located right in the center
of myrtle beach and anywhere you go from there is easy to get to. the
staff if friendly and helpful. maid service is great. laundry facilities.
well lit parking right outside the front door. it is 1 block back from
the beach which means you can see the beach but it takes you 2 min.
to walk across ocean blvd. and be on the beach. hardly a sacrifice this
time of year. CALL (843) 448-5266 ext. 100 best place to stay in my book is the mystic sea.have been to myrtle
beach 7 times and have stayed at the sea mist resort, not a very clean
place to stay.also have had the pleasure of staying at the beachcomer, and
the twlight surf also the sea crest resort and i woulkd have rather
stayed home then stay at either one of those places.the mystic sea is
small and doesn't offer alot but the smiling faces and the cherfulness
of the staff makes you feel like your someone special. My wife and I just got back yesterday and had a great time. The Heritage
was the best course I've ever played--incredible greens. Oyster Bay
had a great layout-real challenging with beautiful holes. Blackmoor
was my wife's favorite--good condition and not too intimidating for
women, yet fun to play for men. We were paired with some of the nicest
people too. Carolina Roadhouse had great salad and prime rib.Las Vegas
Golf and Martins had the best deals, Golf dimensions was most expensive.
Stayed at the Caravelle--excellent place, we're going back there next
year. Can hardly wait! We visited Myrtle Beach for the first time the first week of October.
The weather couldn't have been nicer. We stayed at the Beach Cove Resort
in North Myrtle Beach as recommended by the travelogue. I would definitely
stay there again. We had a 2 bedroom unit with a livingroom and sleeper
sofa. All the rooms are ocean front with a balcony. The kitchen had
a microwave, and dishwasher with plenty of dishes. We even had a washer
and dryer. My son-in-law requested extra pillows and they brought them
in a few minutes. The beach was great. It is a little ways from downtown,
but only a few blocks from Barefoot Landing. Can't wait to return. We would recommend the VANCOUVER MOTEL located in South Myrtle Beach.
Premises are clean, and comfortable and prices are competitive. Has
an outdoor pool, kept very clean, located right on the beach. Recommend
you add this location to your list . Thank you! 9/23/97-9/26/97 first visit to myrtle beach, traveled with wife, sister
and hubby. stayed a the sea dip, very pleased with the 2-bedroom oceanfront,
great rates, very friendly staff found information about the sea dip
from this web site prior to trip, apon arrival the front desk gave us
room key 669 to look at the room. visited house of blues (by way of
awesome limo, great driver dean), nascar cafe, planet hollywood, and
of course broadway of the beach great ribs at tony romas, the crab legs
were also great at benjamins. it may have been our first vist but its
not the last. thanks for a great time myrtle beach!!!! I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was two years old. It is
the greatest place in the whole world. My parents have always been able
to take our family on an annual visit to South Carolina. The Grand Strand
is a wonderful place for families to go and enjoy the warm summer days
and nights of the south. I have many fond memories of Myrtle Beach and
I would tell everyone who asked about it that it is a very relaxing
place the just kick back and have some fun!!!!!!!! I have also stayed
at Garden City, SC which is a few miles away from Myrtle Beach. My suggestion
for a place to stay there is the Water's Edge resort. The rooms are
great and it is in a great location. A GREAT place!!!!! Days Inn on the Ocean. This is a small motel with less than fifty
rooms. We felt like we were a name not a number to these nice people.
William and Christine were the staff members who made our families'
stay great. It helps that the motel is right down the street from Broadway
at the Beach... which is good for families. Just returned home today from MB. Had a great week of wonderful weather,
sunny and 85. Stayed at the Caravelle Resort. Very nice place, had a
nice room on the 7th floor of the St. Clements bldg. If you go you have
to visit the new Sea Aquarium at Broadway At The Beach! It was great!
We also went to see Legends in Concert which had famous singer impersonators.
That was a good show, very entertaining. We ate at Dicks Last Resort
and had a wild time and also visit the House of Blues, great food and
a very nice place for entertainment. Love MB, can't wait to return next
year! Linda Just returned from a week in M.B. Stayed at Coral Beach Resort - very
satisfied, especially enjoyed oceanfront bar, grill and d.j. Loved Broadway
at the Beach. Fireworks on Tuesday nights - spectacular. Husband and
son golfed M.B. National, (King's North), Arrowhead, Wacashaw (sp?)
and Oyster Bay - they enjoyed all of them. Restaurants - Carolina Roadhouse
- great, Dick's Last Resort - very entertaining. We really enjoyed ourselves
and plan to return next year! Email me for any tips. Pins 718@aol.com
Family just returned from M.B. (August 1997). Stayed at Coral Beach
Resort. We loved it! The bar, d.j. and grill (oceanfront) were a great
addition. Broadway at the Beach was fantastic. Restaurants were all
good. Carolina Roadhouse is recommended - good steaks. The beach was
really nice by the Coral Beach Resort. No complaints - we're going back
next year! We have been going to MB for 3 years now. WE LOVE MB!! Each time we
go we stay at the KOA camp grounds. KOA has these great cabins that
we love to use. Hope when you read this that you will come and stay
in MB, SC. I'm sure your stay will be as great as ours has been!! ltlbabe@aol.com
(elaine) MY FAMILY AND I JUST RETURNED FROM MYRTLE BEACH, FOR THE FIRST TIME
AND LOVED IT. WE ARE PLANNING TO BUY A TIMESHARE AT THE SANDS OCEAN
CLUB OR SANDS BEACH CLUB. WE STAYED AT THE FOREST DUNES RESORT, WHICH
WAS A NICE PLACE AND VERY SPACIOUS ONE BEDROOM CONDO. NOT A LARGE PROPERTY,
2 POOLS A LAZY RIVER. A SMALL CAFE STYLE EATERY, BEACH IS ACROSS THE
STREET, AND GREAT VIEW OF THE OCEAN FROM YOUR BALCONY!!. BROADWAY AT
THE BEACH IS TERRIFIC, AND THE MINATURE GOLF COURSES ARE GREAT. WE WILL
BE RETURNING NEXT YEAR SAME TIME!!!! Just returned from our second annual (hopefully of many) trip to the
Myrtle Beach area. Beginning last year, we started an annual week to
Garden City, where we rented a beach house along with my brother's family,
my sister's family, and our Dad. In reality, my husband have been to
Myrtle many times in years past, but we always camped in our pop-up.
Since my sister's family does not camp, and most of our favorite camping
spots have given way to high-rises (boo!), we opted for the tranquil
beach of Garden City, where at 2 miles south of the pier, the beach
is wonderfully deserted, pristine and private. With Murrell's Inlet
to the south, seafood is plentiful for those who choose to cook up their
favorites. Sharing the rent between four families makes the price very
attractive. Sharing cooking duties makes mealtime fun as opposed to
a chore, and all of the kids has a ball! Adults took the bedrooms, while
the kids preferred to camp out together in the great room, in their
sleeping bags. The beach house had two enclosed showers downstairs,
which was great! The body surfing was a blast for all, from the youngest
(at 6 years old) to the oldest (at 73 years old). Wish we could have
stayed longer!!! My family and I just returned from Myrtle Beach 7-12-97. For the past
ten years when visiting Myrtle Beach, we have stayed in the same resort-THE
MYRTLE BEACH RESORT. This resort is excellent. With six pools, saunas,
a gift shop, deli, convenience store, and oceanfront bar and grill,
you couldn't ask for anything more. While in Myrtle Beach, I strongly
suggest eating at SOUTHERN SUPPERS and THE GHOST SHIP. I also suggest
visiting BROADWAY AT THE BEACH and BAREFOOT LANDING. These shopping
areas are excellent and beautiful. My family and I can't wait to get
back to Myrtle Beach next year! We are leaving for Myrtle Beach in 6 days and will be staying at the
Sand Dunes for 7 nights. This will be my 12th ? time going down and
I am as excited about going this time as I was the first time I went.
We plan on visiting Broadway at the Beach , the water slides, the go-kart
park and eating out every night. Sand Dunes offers free summer golf
and my dad, husband and oldest son will be going out every day. I plan
on sitting on the beach all day or by the pool. Maybe we'll take a day
trip to Charleston also. We plan on going to Texans for dinner one night
and possibly Dixie Stampede. The Sand Dunes has a kids program that
I plan to encourage them to participate in at least 1 or 2 days and
we''ll be sharing a 2br oceanfront suite with the grandparents. Can't
wait, We'll be there soon. The Webbers golfwebb@aol.com submitted 8-13-97
I just returned from a long weekend on Myrtle Beach on 8/11. I have
been to Myrtle Beach quite a few times before, as I live in North Carolina.
I always enjoy going because S. Carolina has happy hour, gambling, and
great beaches. There's tons to do at Myrtle Beach. However, this time
I was not able to stay in my usual hotel. I stayed at the WATERSIDE
INN! Do NOT stay there! The place is overpriced and dirty. My room smelled
of old sweat when I got there. Also, the maid didnt bother to show up
on my first night there. One of the sheets had a cigarette burn in it
and one of the washcloths had like a black grease stain on it. The bathroom
ceiling was leaking as well. I had a great time when I was NOT in my
room...but the accomodations were horrible. When trying to tell the
desk clerk about this when I left, he wouldn't even acknowledge I was
speaking to him. Bottom line...spend your money wisely and stay in North
Myrtle Beach. Whatever you do...DONT stay at the Waterside Inn!!!!!
Went to Myrtle Beach for the first time on 8-3-97 until 8-10-97. We
stayed at the Sea Mist Resort. Just wanted to let everyone know that
it is an absolute dump. It ruined our whole vacation and left us with
a bad taste for Myrtle Beach. It would take me quite a long time to
write everything that was wrong with it,but if anyone wants to know
particulars, feel free to e-mail me. I have recently come back from my vacation at Myrtle Beach and would
like to share my horrific experience. We were at Myrtle Beach the week
of August 2 - August 10, 1997. I would like to warn anyone who might
be trying to make reservations at the BEACHWALK MOTEL, 1701 S. Ocean
Blvd. This place is the Bates Motel of Myrtle Beach! When I made my
reservations over three months ago, I was told on the telephone that
the kitchens come fully equipped so I would not need pots and pans etc.
It took me two days to get pots and pans which they had to purchase.
The hotel rooms are extremely run down. The first thing that I had to
do when we got into our room was completely scrub and sanitize the kitchen
and bath areas. They were both so filthy I was afraid to cook on the
stove or take a bath! The air conditioner was hanging three inches off
the wall and there was a lot of mildew in the bathroom. I don't want
to ramble so I'll give a brief synopsis of our stay. The maids walked
off the job so there was no room MYRTLE BEACH WARNING........... We stayed at the Gazebo Inn July 26,
1997 to August 2, 1997. They put us in a room next door to the Gazebo
Inn at the Beachwalk. We were very suprised as we thought we had reservations
at the Gazebo Inn. We were charged rates for Gazbeo Inn! The room they
put us in was roach infested, the smoke alarm did not have a battery
as the connection was hanging out of the fixture, the kitchen was dirty,
i dropped something and had to move the freezer and there was absolute
filth there, they didn't change our bed sheets the whole 7 nights we
were there, there were drunks running up and down the steps all night,
there was one girl who keep going out to cars pulling up she looked
to be selling drugs, the maid service we were promised was almost non-existence,
they came late around 2:00 or 3:00 (after all the gazebo inn rooms were
done) and did a half ass job while complaining the whole time they had
to go out of there way to service our room. We were also told the pier
was in walking distance which it was not, we were totally unsatised,
as it does no good to tell anyone at the Gazebe Inn we thought maybe
others would be interested in their goings ons. We thought we were going
to a family motel at a family beach, but it was terrible and our family
will NEVER return to myrtle beach for a vacation. tamiam38@aol.com I stayed at The Uncle Joe's Road SIde Motel i must say that dogs taste
better cooked than alive i learned the hard way. Also the pool was great
the ducks were great fun until little billy got bite. NEVER! NEVER! STAY AT "SURFRIDER" CONNECTED WITH "BOARDWALK".
We stayed there we made reservations over the phone. We should have
known better than to stay there because they had rooms at the last minute.
They were kind of high and some of the areas looked kind of run down
and the carpet looked shabby in the hallways and elevators. The sauna
room was very small room for two people to set. You could not stretch
out and relax. My room was fairly good but not what I expected it to
be for the price I had to pay $740.00 for six days and no triple AAA
discount unless you stay seven days. At the end of my sixth day I wanted
to add that day or get triple a discount for that day and they said
no way. Thats not the only thing I didn't like about the place. We were
getting ready to go out and there was this awful unmis- takeble smell
in the hallway. (pot) We had forgotten some- thing and went back to
get it and before I could reach the door, there was a knock on my door
it was the hotel manager. She ask if we smelt something funny and I
said yes and she asked if she could enter our room. She looked all around
the room with her eyes and made me feel real funny. Then she said there
was a complaint that there was pot smell coming from our room. Well
I got real upset and told her I didn't like being acused of such things
that I don't and never have and she said they don't allow such things
to go on in this hotel. I was never so embrassed in my life. What I
think was the house keeping was doing a little of it because they were
out side my door before it happened. We will never stay there again.
My fiaunce and I still managed to have a good at Hard Rock cafe, deep
sea fishing with Captain Dicks Fleet. We had agreat time at Medival
Times a great show and dinner and everyone should go there at least
one time. Great Seafood at Calabash resturants. Do not eat at a place
called Plant- ation Kitchens awful and expensive. There is a show for
people who like "Elvis" Its called Eddie Miles Theather and
he is great. He looks, sounds, and acts like Elvis to the point you
would think it was his twin. Well I just wanted to share a few of the
good and the bad experiences. Next time I will stay some where a lot
nicer and make reservations a head of time. My family and I have been visiting Myrtle Beach for several years.
We have stayed in a different motel almost every year. We have not found
one that we were impressed with enough to say we would like to go back
again. With few exceptions they have all been adequate but nothing special.
We are a family of 5 with 3 children ages 5 to 15. We prefer at least
a 2 bedroom efficency on the ocean front. We have stayed at the following:
Boardwalk, Poindexter,Bar Harbor, Surf Rider, Sandcastle, Driftwood,
and The Palms. We are staying at the Bermuda Sands this August for the
first time. Anyone who could give us some suggestions or some info on
the Bermuda Sands would be greatly appreciated. The Williams family--
RWILLI642@AOL.COM My family has been traveling to Myrtle Beach since before I was born.
After I got a little older we started staying at LAKEWOOD CAMPING RESORT
in South Myrtle Beach on Business 17s. It's a great family campground
with a ton of activities to do besides get a great tan. It is located
right on the beach which is very cool for a swim anytime. If you get
up early enough when the tide is out, you can collect sharks teeth!
There is so much to do, I can't begin to write it all down. But if you
are looking for a great FAMILY place to stay, LAKEWOOD CAMPING RESORT
is excellent. Try it out for yourself! They have nice villas to stay
in, and volleyball courts on the beach, indoor and outdoor pools, ampitheatre,
rec center, "kid's story time" (I used to love to go!), arcade,
paddle boats, and lakes to fish in throughout the campground! Enjoy!
My family just went to Myrtle Beach for our bi-annual family reunion.
We were there the week of July 12th thru the 19th. We have our reunions
every other year, this being our 5th reunion there. We have always stayed
at The Anchorage on North Ocean Blvd. We keep returning to the same
place because it is very clean, well maintained and very attractive
as far as the condo units and the grounds around the Anchorage. There
is a pool which is great fun for everyone and the beach is just across
the street from the Anchorage. My family would recommend The Anchorage
to anyone who wants to stay somewhere that feels like home. The condo's
have kitchens, two bathrooms, two-three bedrooms, VCR's, sterios and
many other comforts of home. Our reunions consist of about 30 people
and we all keep returning to this place because we have been satisfied
now every time we go. Myrtle Beach offers so much for the family to
do. We used to go to Barefoot Landing, but now that theres Broadway
at the Beach, Barefoot Landing cannot compare. Don't waste your time
going there. If you want to go to a very good seafood restaurant on
the water that is casual, Drunken Jacks in Murrells Inlet is THE BEST!
Mrytle Beach Waves water park was very expensive (60.00 for a family
of four) and not worth it! There was barely anything a child under the
age of 5/6 could do. If you want to see a good movie, go to the IMEX
theatre at Broadway at the Beach. It offers movies that are exciting
and entertaining on a very large screen that makes you feel as if you
are a part of the movie. It is no ordinary movie, it is different and
refreshing. We saw the movie on the Grand Canyon and that was a good
one for all ages. I could not say enough about Myrtle Beach. We love
it there and plan on going back in 1999 for our 6th family reunion.
If you have any questions you want to ask about Myrtle Beach or The
Anchorage, feel free to e-mail us and we'll respond. We have been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for 25-30 years. Most times
a week during the summer and a couple of long weekends during the fall
and spring. My girls age 28 and 30 have beeg going to MB since they
were toddlers and I am now taking my grandsons--ages 7 and 12-during
spring break and during the summer. We vacationed the week of June 1-7
and this was first time in all these years weather was bad, but we still
enjoyed other things besides the beach. The music theaters, minature
golf, movie theaters, Broadway at the Beach, shopping, and great food.
The Carolina Roadhouse was very good. First time we had eaten there.
There salads with House Dressing are great. Also, there filet mignon.
We own a timeshare at the Yachtman's and have been very pleased with
it. We know what to expect in our unit and are not disappointed as it
sometimes happens when you just pick a motel. Would like to hear from
anyone about good places to eat. Hello MB fans!! My husbands family and I just returned from MB. It
was great, the weather couldn't of been better. The ocean was warm,
the sun hot and the breeze cool. My husband and his family has been
vacationing in MB for the past 28? years. I started going with them
5 years ago. I never knew a vacation till then. This time we stayed
at the Patricia North. it was a nice hotel. We usually stay at the Sea
Horn. Not much to look at from the outside, but a nice place to stay.
Very clean. Southern Suppers is the best place to eat for buffett. We
go pracitically every night. To everyone that will be going soon...Have
fun and take me with you!!!! Hi, Jsut got back from spending the 4th of July week at Myrtle Beach
and had a blast. The best part of the trip was our stay at the Beach
Cove. Although it can be a little pricey, it is well worth it. They
even had a big 4th of July bash around the pool all day, complete with
d.j. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo and had more than enough room. All
rooms are oceanfront and have complete access to over 8 pools, lazy
river and sauna. They also have activities ranging from a "big
daddy splash contest" to crab and duck races for the whole family
to enjoy daily. The staff was also very friendly. We made our nightly
trips to Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing but plan on relaxing
for a few nights and enjoying our motel more next year. We are shooting
for the 4th again next year and plan on staying at the Beach Cove again.
Fat Tuesdays looked like fun at Broadway at the Beach but didn't get
to try it this year. Anybody have any news on this place? Best of luck
and have fun to all of you lucky enough to still have vacation plans
in Myrtle Beach this summer. I'll be thinking about you!! Just returned from MB. Had a nice time and the weather was beautiful.
However, we stayed at the Hilton Ocean Golf Resort and found it to be
quite over priced for the services and atmosphere. It was an average
hotel at above average rates (nearly $200 per night/dbl occy). The pool
area was small, the rooms average and the AC system sounded like a car
idling. The B'fast buffet that was poolside offered nothing that could
not have been purchased at a 7-11 for less money. For a nice dinner,
try New York Prime or Thoroughbreds. We also had a great time at Dick's
Last Resort (not for the shy or faint hearted). I visited Brunswick Golf Plantation in March of 1997 and found the
accomodations and the course to be excellent. I would recommend this
golf package to anyone. Best place found to socialize was Toby"s
in Little River, just 5 minute from the golf planation. BEWARE!!! We made reservations in June for the week of July 5th through
July 10th at the new OCEAN DRIVE BEACH & GOLF RESORT in North Myrtle
Beach. We were told that this new hotel had an indoor and outdoor pools,
childrens pool, sauna, hot tub, lazy river, weight room, and a laundry
room. HOWEVER, when we arrived after traveling 1400 miles, we were surprised
and disappointed to find that this hotel WAS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
Not only was it still being worked on, but the construction workers
started working at 7:00 A.M. FURTHERMORE, the lazy river wasn't even
finished, the hot tub, sauna, weight room, and laundry room wasn't even
open. (Not to mention that there was still NO PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE 12TH
FLOOR due to it wasn't finished either. There were MANY problems with
the 3 elevators. They weren't just slow, there were many times that
two of the 3 elevators weren't working. And when you were lucky enough
to have more than 1 working, the construction workers kept holding them
up due to their need to move from floor to floor. Not to mention that
one day a housekeeper came to our room, while we were still sleeping,
and ordered us out of our room in 30 minutes!!! We complained to the
head housekeeper and we were told that since she was 68 yrs. old, we
should try to over- look her behavior. When we checked out on the last
day, we inquired about some kind of discount on the rate, CONSIDERING
THAT MOST OF THE FACILITIES WEREN'T OPENED, but they simply told us
that they would give us a discount on our NEXT visit! Our thoughts on
that one? "WHAT NEXT VISIT?!" So before anyone makes a reservation
at OCEAN DRIVE RESORT, be very careful of what they tell you! ASK THEM
IF ALL THEIR FACILITIES ARE OPERATING!!! Otherwise, they will simply
tell you that they have these facilities there, not letting you know
the truth of the matter! THEY'RE THERE...YOU JUST CAN'T USE THEM BECAUSE
THEY AREN'T FINISHED!!! We hope this helps someone else from experiencing
what we did. Rumor was that it wouldn't be totally finished for at least
another 90 days. (By the way, 2 days before we left, they were STILL
telling incoming patrons that the lazy river would be opened by Friday.
FYI we left on Friday and they were still working on the lazy river!!!)
Our family just got back from Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Sand
Dunes resort hotel. It was very nice. Our childrn enjoyed the kids club
they have. The pool and lazy river were also a big hit. We ate at Texans.
It was wonderful. The ribs and steaks were delicious. Also we ate at
River City Cafe. The burgers were delicious. Our kids liked the baskets
of peanuts and that you could throw your shells on the floor. We drove
to Calabash N.C. one night for supper and ate at Calahan's Cala bash.
It was well worth the drive...Great seafood. We all enjoyed Broadway
at the Beach. Good shops, IMAX, and the new Ripley's Aquarium(kids enjoyed
alot). Don't waste your time at Barefoot Landing , go to Broadway at
the beach. Also, coming soon to Myrtle, a minor league Atlanta Braves
team which will be located across from Broadway at the beach. I have stayed at the Beach Cove in N. Myrtle and find it very nice!!!
I am surprised not to see it on the place to stay. Any Info? Barb M.
We've spent our last five vacations at Myrtle Beach. My husband and
I and two daughters travel with other family members and friends. It
seems to be hard to please such a large crowd. We normally stay at Sea
Crest Resort and have no complaints this year we decided to try somewhere
different and we chose The Palace. I haven't seen any comments on this
Resort any would be appreciated. Our favorite places to eat are Drunken
Jack's at Murrell's Inlet and Dick's Last Resort (Great Atmosphere!).
We will be arriving mid July. Counting the days for a long awaited vacation!!!
:) Going to MB in August 1997. Wondering if anyone has ever stayed at
the Meridian? Went to MB for the first time in 1996 and stayed at the
Sand Castle. Sand castle was a good deal for the money. Elevators a
little slow. Sand castle has pool, whirlpool and lazy river. Information
on Meridian shows larger rooms (separate bedroom) and living area. Any
comments? Hello to all of you fellow Myrtle Beachers. This message is for TMoore
from Virginia who requested info. on The Palms in Myrtle Beach. We stayed
there in '95 and would not recommend it. There was plenty of room, but
the upkeep was not that great. It would be ideal for a large family--three
bedrooms, 2 good sized. Our family is returning once again for our yearly
visit over the 4th of July and can't wait. We are staying at the Beach
Cove in North Myrtle Beach. It is located right across from Barefoot
Landing. We have heard some good things about it but would appreciate
any further info. anyone can give us. Thanks for your help in advance
and here is to sun, fun and good times for everyone vacationing in Myrtle
Beach over the $th of July!! 6/17/97 Just returned from a trip to Myrtle Beach June 15 and had a great
time! This was only my second trip there, and I'm looking forward to
the next. We stayed at the Patricia Grand - nice place, with lots of
amenities, but the room was a bit small, and the elevator service left
a lot to be desired. Also stayed at Tropical Winds on the previous trip,
which offered a great view, though not quite as posh as Patricia Grand.
On our next trip, we would like to find a nice place with a kitchette
at an affordable price for July. Fun-loving 24 yr. old couple who would
like to stay close to the Pavilion, Boardwalk at the Beach, and be OCEANFRONT.
We have been looking into The Yachtsman Resort, Swamp Fox, and The Palace,
among others. Any suggestions and ROOM RATES would be greatly appreciated,
or would it be easier to rent a condo? Our next trip is planned for
3 nights, 4 days. ASAP!! Thanks! We first visited MB on our honeymoon in Dec of 88. Since then we visit
at least once a year and try for twice. We love it and hope to retire
there. We have stayed at the Kingston Plantations in NMB, (loved it),
Coral Beach, Crown Reef, and Waters Edge Resort. For the honeymoon,
Kingston was the best, BUT, for just enjoying MB, Waters Edge is SUPER.
The rooms are huge, clean, very well furnished and the staff is great!!!
Our usual trip in May had to be be canceled this year so we are looking
forward to our September trip. Favorite resturaunts include the Alabama
Grill and Carolina Roadhouse. WE love all the entertainment but especially
enjoy the Legends performances. Sitting here 6/14/97 waiting for September.
Hope to meet you there!!! Please recommend a hotel! During the past 5-7 years we have always
stayed at Patricia Grand,Patricia North, or Beach Colony. We just returned
from a great week at the Patricia North and are planning a visit for
a long weekend in late July, 1997. We will not need the indoor facilities
and are therefore looking for a smaller, quieter, and less pricey alternative.
We welcome your suggestions and comments! There are several very small
hotels that we have noticed, but whose names we can't recall. We are
picky about cleanliness and friendliness! We'd appreciate your help!
Rollinp@3rddoor.com We just came back from Myrtle Beach (June 1-6). First time for us
- husband and teenage son golfed 36 holes each day. They played everything
from Gator Hole to Traditions. They enjoyed them all. Moorland was their
#1 spot. Make sure you golf that course. We stayed at the Sands Beach
Club - a great all-suite resort - nice rooms and amenities. We ate at
several places - River City Cafe, Longhorn Steak House, Gabby's Steak
House (wonderful margaritas), Dick's Last Resort - no complaints on
any of them. The weather could have cooperated more. My daughter and
I were planning on walking and enjoying the beach. Not so. Maybe next
year. We do plan on going back. Till then. I am new at using the internet, I sent a letter on 6/5/97 and it put
"Anonymous" for the name, no wonder I didn't here back from
anyone. So lets try it again. We have visited Myrtle Beach for the last
3 years. First year we stayed at the Bluewater Resort (I felt this was
run down.) The next year we stayed in the new suites at the Dayton House
which were very nice but the owner was a pain. Last year we stayed at
the Coral Beach ( for as much as we spent a night we felt it should
have been nicer, plus every other hotel in MB that I have contacted
have gone out of their way to help me but this Coral Beach, they act
like you are bothering them or something. So this year we thought we
would stay at the Crown Reef or Captains Quarters. Does anyone have
any information about these two hotels, whether they are nice or not?
Also our favorite restaurant is Drunken Jacks at Merrills Inlet. Hey gang. I just got back from MB stayed 6/1-6/5. Yea, during "senior
week"..I am a Mom with 8 yr old kid. The teens were not bad, the
security was excellent on the beach, however still a lot of rowdiness.
Did extensive research on the net for this trip. Just a few disappointments...
Stayed at Landmark Resort. This place is great, had a 2 room oceanfront
suite, pool area is #1, however...the pre-teens need to be chaparoned
a bit better. They seemed to take over the place and hotel security
didn't do much about it. One HUGE DOWNER was our rental car was KEYED
in the worst way, still waiting for damages bill. Hotel will not be
responsible, was parked in parking garage which was SuPPOSED to have
security. Had to file police report and such. Second downer was Ripley's
Sea Aquarium was not open yet. Broadway at the Beach was great tho.
Took a "cruise" @ $12 a person..what a waste of money... no
sunshine either..spent most of the time in jean and jacket. All in all...it
wasn't a total washout. Email me with any questions you may have ...I'll
be happy to help and answer since I has so many computer friends help
me! Our family just returned from MB. The weather was cool, but we still
got to enjoy the beach. NASCAR Cafe is a must for all to see. We found
the food to be excellent and the prices reasonable. We stayed at the
Sea Winds. The condo was very nice, but needed some deep cleaning. We
stayed in North Myrtle Beach and it was very family oriented. I have stayed at the Sea Mist several times. This motel caters mostly
to families with children. Many play areas, river rides etc. Moderate
rooms, fairly clean. Some buildings are older, but if fairly good shape.
Don't know their present rates but they should be in line with others.
This is a large complex covering almost a full block. Their best deal
is if you need a room later than 10:00 pm and willing to pay cash, a
room is half price (may not be the same room you reserved for your stay).
I leave home in time to get this deal and transfer to another room or
other motel the next day. Saturday, June 7, 1997 My husband(Ron)and I first visited Myrtle Beach
on our honeymoon, 34 years ago (March 1963). We loved it then and still
do, even though it has changed considerably. We stayed at a little place
called the "Singing Surf" and have not been able to locate
it since. We have been staying at The Patricia Grand for the past 5
or 6 years and try to visit at least twice a year. It's a great place,
centrally located, with spacious accommodations. Now that our children
are grown we love just hanging out on the beach during the day and going
to places like Broadway at the Beach in the evenings. We'll be coming
down next week and this time my daughter and her new husband will be
coming along. My son-in-law and husband plan on hitting the golf course
at Tidewater Plantation where we have recently purchased some property.
Hopefully, one day we will be able to build our retirement home there
and not just visit the beach but LIVE THERE!! Myrtle Beach is one of my favorite resort areas. My husband and I
have been going there for 8 years and we love the Beach Cove in North
Myrtle Beach....plenty of room and all suites are ocean front. Favorite
shopping...Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. Favorite Restaurant....Damon's
in Barefoot Landing---I just can't get enough of their Onion Loaf and
their Ribs are out of this world! NOW, I can't wait to go. Carole We have been to MB for the last 3 years. We have stayed at the Bluewater
Resort (run down) the Dayton House which was real nice, we had one of
the new suites and I really liked it, the only problem was the owner,
he was not very pleasant to be around. Last year we stayed at the Coral
Beach, my son loved it, I think it is geared toward teenagers. My husband
and I were disappointed with the interior of the room, it had new carpet
but otherwise not real nice for the money we spent. Plus when I called
them this year they are not very helpful and seem a little rude to me.
Does anyone know anything about the Crown Reef or Captains Quarters,
I heard Captains Quarters was renovated last year. Is this true, and
isn't the Crown Reef fairly new? As far as restaurants we love Drunken
Jacks at Murrills Inlet. Myrtle Beach is a great place for vacation,
we love it. Please let me know right away on these hotels. Thanks I spent every summer vacation with my family in Myrtle Beach. We stayed
at Pirateland family campground. Nice place if you like roughing it.
Now that I am 24, I am taking my husband there for our year anniversary.
He has never been to Myrtle, (he is from NYC..I am from NC) and I want
him to love it as I do. We are staying at the Patricia grand. I love
to eat at Dick's Last Resort, but can anyone email me and clue me in
on the "hot spots" to eat and entertain? I have not been to
MB for about 5-6 years. We are leaving July 24, so any information would
be great! Thanks. Every year myself, my wife and our two children go to Garden City
and stay at Water's Edge Resort. We really enjoy the spacious rooms
and all the comforts of home. We have been staying here for the last
5 years and plan to continue our 6th year in September. We really enjoy
the area because it is a quieter atmoshpere than the "Strip"
beach area; but within 10 minutes of the Grand Strand and all the highlights
of the Myrtle Beach area. We recommend the late season stay, because
of the nearly 50% savings after the Labor Day holiday. It is still summer
weather; but the crowds are fewer. For the past 2 years we have been
going with friends that have children close in ages with ours and we
have found this to be an enjoyable way to spend our vacation times.
A lot of people asked about Captain's Quarters. It used to be our
favorite place to stay in the 70's and early 80's. Then in the late
80's they started going downhill. The resturant at one time was pretty
good for breakfast. I think now they have renovated some, and are doing
better. I think we are going to try and stay there again this year.
WARNING !!! WARNING !!! WARNING !!! Recently while making vacation
reservations at MB for July 97, we called a motel called the "Blue
Lagoon" at 405 N. Ocean Blvd. After setting up initial reservations,
the address to send the deposit to, did not coincide with the motel
location. The address to send the deposit sounded familiar, so after
further investigation we determined it to be an address for a motel
called "Rainbow Court." located on 405 Flagg Street. This
motel is on a back side street off the Blvd. where we thought we had
made our reservations. After discovering this we called back and were
told that the "Blue Lagoon" had been purchased by "The
Rainbow Court" and our reservations were "inadvertly"
placed at "The Rainbow Court." The desk clerk checked and
"discovered" that he did not have a room at The Blue Lagoon
after all. Was this an oversight? Possibly, however it is likely this
was a variation on the old "bait and switch". We would have
proceeded to MB for the week of the fourth of July thinking we were
staying on the Blvd. and Lo and Behold, we would have been stuck on
some side street away from the action. There would have been nothing
we could have done at this time, except take what they had given us.
Our suggestion is that if you are not familiar with the area, as we
are, you should double check the address of the motel and the address
of where they want you to send your deposit. We have been going to MB
for many years and LOVE it... We do not think this is typical behavior,
however there are always a few bad apples in the bunch. By the way,
we cancelled our reservations for the "Blue Lagoon/Rainbow Court"
and got other reservations at a very nice motel on the Blvd... We look
forward to our vacation now, knowing we will be where we want to be.
First hit MB in the 60s as a young camper now as a dad we go every
year with the kids. Best place on the east coast for a family vacation
. We stay at the Windjammer in NMB great mom & pop place Worth the
trip from New Jersey every year!!!This year we are MB bound in August.
See yall later I just returned from Myrtle Beach last week (May3-10/97) We stayed
at Myrtle Beach Resort in south Myrtle Beach - almost Surfside Beach.
We rented 2bedroom condo privately - it was nice - the outdoor pools
were not heated and with the wind from the ocean it was too cold - not
very many people were swimming outdoors. The indoor pool was like a
bath! We were looking forward to going to the Ripleys Aquarium with
our little guy but it wasn't open yet. I believe they said May 23. The
shopping was OK - we always go to TJ Maxx and the malls. The outlet
mall was dead - there are alot of empty stores - didn't find as many
deals as usual. We stayed two years ago at the Plantation Resort on
the 2 Deer Track golf courses - it was more expensive but worth it -
washer and dryer in unit, backed onto 18th hole, sun on balcony all
day, bigger unit, and indoor pool and fitness centre. They are building
a new outdoor pool - we drove in, its not finished yet - but should
be soon. It's great for golfers - $25 a round includes cart (its an
ok course), and they don't need the car - so we can shop! We did most
of our shopping at the Wal-Mart plaza - had two good clothing stores
and a shoe store, Wal-mart has a huge grocery store in it, and whole
store is open 24 hours. Looking forward to going back next year. We
used to go to Florida for years, now MB is our choice - closer and cheaper!
We spent the week of April 26-May3 at Myrtle Beach and stayed at the
Poindexter. The place was adequate but not fancy. We are from Maryland
and used to going to Ocean City, MD. We were disappointed that Myrtle
Beach had no boardwalk. The beach is not very wide (we are beach and
ocean lovers). There are lots of restaurants but the seafood does not
compare to the seafood here in Maryland. The best meal we had (ribs)
was at the Texans' Grill at 80th Ave and Bus. 17. It was a nice relaxing
week, but I think we will go back to OC next time. My family has been going to Myrtle Beach for the past 5 years. We
generally stay at THE BEACH COVE RESORT, beautiful place, pricey, but
well worth it after a long drive. It is rather private considering that
it is in North Myrtle. We have stayed at the SEA MIST and last year
had to stay at the CARRIBEAN. These 2 hotels are nice but nothing can
compare to THE BEACH COVE!! THOROUGHBREDS is by far our most favorite
restaurant. We also love the Calabash restaurants. We have seen all
of shows (Dixie Stampede, Alabama, Carolina Opry, Magic on Ice, and
more) and and we loved them all! We are going back to Myrtle September
1997. (staying at The Beach Cove!) Can't Wait!!!! :) We always visit Myrtle Beach in September, usually around Labor Day.
We are going later in Sept. this year. For the past 5 years we have
stayed at the Sea Crest but have seen it go down hill. We were thinking
of staying at the Captain's Quarters this year. Does anyone have any
recommendations or information on this resort. I can't wait to get back
to Myrtle Beach. Our vacation last year was cut short by the threat
of Fran. Hope we have better luck this year. We found a new favorite
place to eat, the Chesapeake House. It is wonderful, they have the best
sea scallops. We also enjoy Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrell's Inlet.
The web pages about Myrtle Beach will help me get through until I can
get back to the Beach. See You in September. my family and i go to mb every summer. our children love it!! we take
boat rides,go to the carnivals, shop, all the fun stuff mb has to offer.
our favorite place to eat is Preston's. it's affordable and they offer
foods that small children would find yummy. we have stayed at the Sand
Dunes and it is a very beautiful place; a little on the more expensive
scale if you're on a budget, but well worth the price!!we all love mb!!!!!!!
Well, we just got back from MB, and although the weather was not as
nice as we had hoped, we still managed to get our 6 rounds in...just
wanted to give my thoughts on the courses. I have been going to Myrtle Beach for at least 18 years and it is
by far my favorite place to visit. I've gone almost every year and am
still not bored. My husband and children all love it , also. We always
stay oceanfront at the northern end of MB. We've stayed at the Carolina
Winds, The Ocean/Sand Dunes, The Patricia North, The Myrtle Beach Martinique
(aka the Sheraton) and the Sands Ocean and Beach Club. All were very
nice, the most recent we stayed at was The Patricia North it is an all-suite
oceanfront resort built about 3 years ago and accomodates our family
of 5 well, it has a lazy river, indoor/outdoor pool and a rooftop pool
that our kids thought was very cool. We are planning to go this August
and have tentative reservations for Sands Ocean Club. We like to eat
at Texans Steakhouse and usually shop around at Barefoot Landings and
Broadway at the Beach. Our kids love the miniature golfing, the go-kart
park and the water slides. Also my parents like the Sand Dunes resorts
because they offer free golf in the summer months if you pay regular
room rates. We look forward to going again this summer. My family and I have been going to Myrtle off and on for 8 years.
We used to stay at the Sea Mist. Great shallow kiddie pools. Have tried
the old Patricia Grand, nice place but I don't care for "oceanfront"
rooms that are at a 45 degree angle to the beach. Tried the Wellington
condo in N. Myrtle last year. Nice rooms but mediocre pool. Our very
favorite restaurant is Carolina Roadhouse. EXCELLENT!!! Also Russ's
Inlet at Murrells Inlet. i have been visiting myrtle beach since i was about 2 and it has been
the most wonderful experience i have ever imagined. myrtle beach is
packed with golf courses of all kinds, it offers a remarkable selection
of dining options, it also contains one of the us's longest grand strands.
all in all myrtle beach is a wonderful experience for people of all
ages. i have always prefered staying at a condo at ---- a place at the
beach ----. it offers much room and a beautiful view of the atlantic
ocean, when walking out of any condo your not more than 10 steps away
from myrtle beaches sandy shores. i do reccomend ---- a place at the
beach ---- for one who enjoyes relaxation and comfort with that extra
special touch, hospitality. Just got back from MB. First time there in almost 17 yrs. Couldn't
believe how much it had grown! Based on Travelogue comments, we stayed
at the Caribbean. Nice room, great view, but a few minor drawbacks (no
lights in the parking garage some nights, etc.,) Our favs were: Eats
-- Capt. Benjamin's buffet(pricey for a family of 4,though), River City
Cafe for the best burgers, and Liberty Steakhouse at Broadway for great
prime rib. Broadway at the Beach for shopping. Huntington Beach State
Park in Murrell's Inlet for the best beach (wide & clean). Brookgreen
Gardens (too beautiful to describe) for a whole day's outing. Our least
favs were Barefoot Landing -- (I know it's highly recommended, but I
wasn't impressed and simply enjoyed Broadway at the Beach more), Waccamaw
Pottery (just another outlet mall with the same stores you see a lot
of places), Hard Rock Cafe (the food wasn't anything special and we
had a waiter with an attitude). Before I forget, also liked Uncle John's
Restaurant on 24th Ave N. for a good old fashioned breakfast at a great
price. And of course, Kirk's Ice Cream Parlor. If you haven't been to
MB for a while you're in for quite a pleasant surprise! 4/12/97. 4/9/97 We have been going to Myrtle Beach for the past 18 years and
have stayed at a few different hotels. We liked Ocean Dunes/Sand Dunes,
they've just recently renovated. We also liked Carolina Winds and last
year we stayed at Patricia North which was an all suite oceanfront resort.
We have 3 children and the Patricia North had plenty of room for all
of us . They have a lazy river, a large outdoor pool and also a rooftop
pool which the kids thought was very cool. We like Texans steakhouse
and make it a stop every time we go down. The Filling Station is good
because it has an all you can eat pizza buffet and its fairly cheap
especially if you get a coupon in one of the many discount books located
at suppermarkets. We recommend shopping at Barefoot Landings and Broadway
at the Beach, its nice to walk around in the evening and sometimes they
have a firework show on certain nights. We are planning to go this year
in August when the rates are cheaper. Also Sand Dunes/ Ocean Dunes offer
free golf when you pay regular room rates so that is a great deal if
like to golf. We love it and can't wait to go. weather was in the mid 70's for all 4 days. We played arrowhead which
was in great shape, Blackmoor which we loved, the Witch was disappointing
because the tee boxes on the back 9 were in really poor condition as
were some of the greens. The back nine was great and almost made up
for the front nine. On the last day we played the Heritage which is
a must play for all golfers. The Watersedge Hotel was great as usual.
We found an awesome Mexican resturant on 17 bypass call Fiesta De Burro
Loco. The food was hot and spicey and the servings were large. Hi, I've been going to Myrtle Beach and staying at Ocean Lakes Family
Campground for as long as I can remember. I hope the Pavilion stays
on the Ocean Front instead of moving to Broadway at the Beach. Returned from 3 wks at Ocean Park last week. Enjoyed it very much,
found staff very friendly and helpful. Accomodations were clean, comfortable
and quite spacious compared to other places I have stayed (i.e. Captains
Quarters., Days Inn, Tropical Winds.) Rumor has it they are expanding
and renovating in the fall, to include indoor & outdoor lazy rivers,
etc. Hope so, because I'll go back again--I liked it. THE WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN TO MYRTLE BEACH SEVERAL TIMES AND LOVE IT.
THERE IS NEVER A LOSE FOR THINGS TO DO. WE HAVE ALWAYS STAYED AT THE
CARAVEL,AND WE LIKE IT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO TRY SOMEPLACE DIFFERENT IN
THE SAME AREA. ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. Returned from 3 wks at Ocean Park last week. Enjoyed it very much,

finding a 3BR condo available for that week. I just made reservations
at The Palms which I recalled seemed pretty nice. THEN, I saw the comment
stating this resort had gone down hill. Has anyone stayed there recently
and could you PLEASE share your comments. I go to myrtle beach every year in october. It is my favorite place
in the world!!! When I was younger we went to Lakewood and I think that
it is the best campground I would recmond it to any one. i AM 23 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN VISITING MYRTLE BEACH SINCE ABOUT
THE AGE OF 4. WE HAVE ALWAYS STAYED AT THE pOINDEXTER EVERY YEAR AT
EASTER TIME WITH MY FAMILY I EVEN TOOK MY HUSBAND THERE FOR OUR HONEYMOON
SINCE THEN WE HAD A BABY AND SHE IS 2 AND WE ARE TAKING HER THERE IN
APRIL i REALLY CANT WAIT TO SEE THE CHANGES SINCE IVE BEEN BACK IN 92
MYRLE BEACH IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO VISIT CLEAN, FRIENDLY PEOPLE, AND
GREAT FOOD. i LIKE TO EAT AT THE GHOST SHIP, i LOVE THE PIER THERE IS
A WONDERFUL WAITRESS THERE. AND IN APRIL WE ARE ALSO STAYING AT THE
POINDEXTER IT WAS A FAMILY TRADITION OF MINE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP NOW
I WANT TO MAKE IT A NEW TRADITION FOR MY FAMILY CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU.aND
IF I MOVE ANYWHERE IT WILL BE mYRTLE BEACH Planning a vacation between June 22-28 for a location along the beach
at a moderate price motel or hotel. We plan 3 or 4 nights. It has to
be along the ocean(motel or hotel) 28/02/97 Yey, fellow golfers! I just want to say that I have been
to MB once last March Break and it was amazing. I felt like a little
kid at a candy store with the vast selection of golf courses. A few
buddies and myself stayed at the Carolina Winds Condos; it was paradise.
However, the best part of our stay was the golf. The course we played
most often was River Oaks.It was a great but challenging course. It's
perfect for the imaginative shotmaker. I just wanted to reccomend the
River Oaks to all the golfers heading to MB. Have fun and be sure to
try it out. I have only been to MB once and it was the greatest golf experience
I ever had. A couple of friends and myself stayed and the Carolina Winds.
It was an ocean front condo right in the middle of MB. The course that
we played most often was River Oaks. This is a great course for imaginative
shot makers. I would suggest this course to anyone who loves a challange.
Also one of the reasons we chose River Oaks is because we got such a
great deal; if you tee off before 8:00am you get the round and a power
cart for only $20. Just returned from MB. It was great for the entire family. We went
to visit my husband's parents, who are there for the winter, and decided
to come back as often as possible. We stayed at the Poindexter. It was
cheap and the efficiency room was great for easy breakfasts and snacks.
The ocean view was great. My family is heading back to MB once again this summer! We have previously
stayed at OCEAN PARK. It has steadilly gone done hill and I would not
reccommend it. This year we are thinking about CARAVELLE RESORT. Does
anybody have any experience with this resort? Excellent courses to golf
are The Witch, Wild Wing Avocet, and my favorite, Pawley's Plantation
(I'll bet you that you will be cursing Jack by the time you are through)
This year I am looking at Dunes, Long Bay, Tidewater, and Man o War.
Any comments or suggestions? Thanks! We have visited MB for the last three years during early June. We
have stayed at the Sands Beach Club and find it reasonable and we love
the location. We will be visiting again in June and would like some
input on three golf courses we are thinking of playing. Angels Trace,
Island Green and Bay Tree. Any input will be greatly appreciated. WE LAST VISITED MYRTLE BEACH IN 1995-AT THAT TIME WE STAYED AT THE
CARIBBEAN RESORT AND ENJOYED OURSELVES TREMENDOUSLY- WE HAD A PERFECT
ROOM LOCATION TOPPED OFF BY PERFECT WEATHER! DIXIE STAMPEDE WAS A GREAT
EXPERIENCE AND FUN FOR ALL AGES. THE SHOPS AT BAREFOOT LANDING OFFER
BUYS FOR ALL INTERESTS. WE WERE TRULY HOOKED ON CALABASH AND CANNOT
WAIT TO RETURN. MYRTLE BEACH HAS IT ALL. WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO VISITING
BROADWAY AT THE BEACH WHICH WAS JUST UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT THE TIME
OF OUR LAST VISIT- WE HAVE PLANS TO VISIT MB IN APRIL OF 1997. CAN ANYONE
COMMENT ON THE BEACH COLONY RESORT?? THE ADS AND PHOTOS LOOK GOOD AND
IT APPEARS TO BE CENTRALLY LOCATED OFFERING MANY AMENITIES HOWEVER,
WORD OF MOUTH STILL RANKS IN MY BOOK. WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS
ASAP AS WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF FINALIZING OUR RESERVATIONS-THANKS,
YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT VACATION- SUBMITTED BY SUE 2/12/97. I have been going to Myrtle Beach since 1992. I go during the last
two weeks in July, and I have a ball. My family, and a few other families
from my hometown travel down together. When we are there, we meet people
from all over the place. We also meet the same people year after year.
I think this has to do with the fantastic job the CORAL BEACH does with
keeping people coming back. The facilities are very efficient, the entertainment
is fantastic(especially last summer when jumpin' Jack Flash from Studebaker's
was the DJ by the bar) My friends and I never had so much fun. The pride
that the owners of the Coral Beach has in keeping the guest happy shows
through the friendliness of the staff, and the cleanliness of the hotel.
I will keep coming back as long as humanly possible. Thank you! 2-10-97. Our family has been to Myrtle Beach for the past three years.
We have stayed at the Caribbean Resort & Villas every year. It is
a GREAT place to stay, very clean and family-oriented. Good places to
eat are the Sea Captain's House and the Original Captain Benjamin's.
I will always love MB because it is where I first saw the ocean for
my 35th birthday in 1994! I've been going down to Myrtle beach for years and I know good golf
when I see it, and the Legends Golf Courses are great. The villas are
good they have two totally different and challenging courses nice staff
and good prices. the legends are in the middle of all the entertainment,
so if you stay anywhere for a Myrtle Beach vacation, I'd recomend the
Legends Not to be confused with a 5 star Sea Mist Resort is WONDERFUL family
resort. This huge hotel has it's own small Waterpark which includes
a lazy river ride.It also can accommadate almost ANY size family. I have been going to MB for 2 yrs in a motor home. I have stayed at
a different Campgroud each time and plan to go again this yr.(yes a
diffeerent cg) I have not setteled on which one as of yet nor what time
of the summer. I plan to go in late J I have stayed at the KOA and Appache
campgrounds, if anyone would like to suggest the next one I should try,
please let me know, I would appreciate the advise. It might be interesting
if a group of us from all over could make plans and meet there at the
same time. I like meeting people from different areas. I can be reached
at joenap@ziplink.net Hope to hear from some of you. Thanks Joe Our group has been going to Myrtle Beach for six years. The concensus
is Oyster Bay is the best course, followed closely by any of the Legends
three courses. I would say that of the three Parkland is the best overall,
but Moorland is the most fun. Playing the surcharge courses is definitely
worth it but of the non-surcharge courses Cypress Bay is about the best
we have played. Other good course are the Dunes, Long Bay, Caledonia,
Heritage, and any of the Wildwing courses. Pawleys Plantation is the
toughest course we've played. As Jack says he doesn't design courses
for amateurs. We plan going to Myrtle at the end of Febuary, and one
of our stops is at Wicked Stick, but with all the negative comments
I'm starting to get worried about playing there. As far as accommodations
you can't beat the Carribean. We couldn't get in their this year so
we decided to go to the Beach Colony. If any body has any comments on
Beach Colony it would be much appreciated. As far as restaurants the
two best we found are Shenanigans and a place called T-Bones (not the
chain) located in the Pawleys Island area. We've always had a great
time Myrtle Beach, its definately the best golf bang for the buck. I have been going to Myrtle Beach since I was in college (about 30
years) almost every year. Since I have had kids in school (last 18 years
or so), we go right after school is out (early June). I started out
in motel/hotels, but with kids, a condo is best. For the past 10 years
or so we have been using Grand Strand Vacations and Thomas Realty for
rentals in North Myrtle Beach. North Myrtle is the best for number of
golf course close by. Yet my family has lots of things to do if they
tire of laying in the sand. Some condos I have stayed in recently and
recommend: Beachmaster, Ocean Garden Villa, Sea Cabin. Sea Cabin may
not be as nice as the others, but is usually least expensive and has
its own pier and fishing facilities. Of course, with condos every unit
is maintained and furnished by it's owners, so each is different. I
have played most of the older courses there and many new ones. I even
have my own database set up with info on every course there. I especially
like Possum Trot. It advertises itself as the "friendly course"
and is. Also I'm not as long off the tee as I used to be, and the course
is more playable. Other courses I play a lot and enjoy: Eagles Nest,
Gator Hole, Bay Tree (3 courses), and Myrtlewood (2 courses). I like
playing in the summer. Fall and Spring are more crowded/expensive on
the courses. Afternoon in the summer most courses have very inexpensive
specials. Our favorite restaurants are Capt. John's at Calabash (lots
of excellent seafood places there) and the Outrigger just outside Possum
Trot. The Outrigger has OUTSTANDING steamed, spiced shrimp. I have been going to MB for at least three years now and every year
it gets better. We did not stay at MB though. We stayed at Pauley's Island-south
of MB. It is very relaxing. There are not very many people that stay
there and it is still close enough to MB so that you could drive every
day and not miss the action.I loved it there. 1-10-97 1/5/97 We've been going to Myrtle Beach for 7 years now, usually at
spring break. We just love it there! We've always stayed at the Caravelle
and this year it will be closed during that time for renovations. Any
suggestions for an equivalent place to stay would be greatly appreciated!
E-mail: REDMANAGER We were at Myrtle Beach S.C. the summer of 1995. We stayed at the
Sea Mist Resort. I would suggest this resort to families with childern
of all ages. We had a great time. There is nothing more relaxing then
walking on the beach early in the morning and late at night. We also
went to Myrtle Waves for the day, it is a very fun and clean water park
and our children had a great time. We also went with 2 other families,
I would suggest that you get a group of family and freinds and take
a trip to Mrytle Beach this summer, we are! My wife and I have been going to Mrytle Beach for many years and find
that, for retiries, the Surf & Dunes in April and May is very reasonable.
We use the K & L Cafateria for most of our meals and find great
restaurants for a few special times. The Surf & Dunes has a great
place to sit in the sun and yet is convenient to the sand and water.
It's fun even if your not a golfer. The one problem with this particular
hotel is that they lost their indoor swimming pool to a hurricane a
number of years ago and haven't put a new one in. But they have two
outside pools. We have been travelling to Mrytle Beach for the past five years in
a group that started out with eight people and has since grown to sixteen.
This group includes nine adults and seven children (ages from 7 to fifteen).
Up to May 1996 we had been staying at the OCEAN PARK hotel , but we
found that last year the hotel had gone down hill quite a bit so we
are looking to change our spot. We all love the Mrytle Beach area and
I'm looking for a RESORT recommendation in the NORTH MRYTLE BEACH AREA.
If anybody has any info I'd love to hear from you. Dave Toronto,Canada
12-27-96 Have been to MB for past 13 years, usually in late October.
Weather mostly very good. Best courses for me all have Bentgrass greens,
or some newer hybrids similar to Bent...the Bermuda greens are very
frustrating unless you're used to them. Best courses: Wild Wing-all)
, Angel Trace(both), Sea Trail-all, Heritage, The Witch, Oyster Bay
& Marsh Harbour, The Pearl-both, Panther Run and Lion's Paw. Tidewater
a good course, but too expensive. All of above have surcharges, but
worth it. Best restaurants: Flo's Place in Murrell's Inlet; Damon's;
Gullyfield's; most other Murrell's Inlet places ok too. Nice place to
stay in North MB is Ocean Court...nothing fancy, but Scott & Linda
great to work with. Plan to bring a larger group out next year. My wife and I have been going to Myrtle beach for past 3 years and
I think the Myrtle Beach martiniqe is a great place to stay if you have
small children because it's a lot quieter in the North end. I would
also not reccommend renting a pontoon from the place where the screamin
eagle leaves from it was very expensive and it was all we could do to
keep the boat running, and we asked for a refund and they refused to
give us anything it was a waste of a day. Every Year my brother and I take a short break from the weather up
North in New Jersey to visit our favorit vacation spot, Myrtle Beach.
Last year we stayed at the Captains Quarters. It was very accom- odating.
There was also a bowling alley near by for free. They have great packetages
for golf that will accomodate any pocket book. The week after Christmas
is an excellent time to visit Myrtle Beach. I can't wait to hit the
hot tub. Have been going to the beach for five years now, and would like input
as to nice places to stay. Have been at THE PALMS previously, and have
watched it go down hill. Love the beach and appreciate your help! Thanks
a lot! 11/20/96 WATERWAY VILLAGE IS THE PLACE TO STAY. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
CONTACT THE PERSON WHO RENTED US OUR CONDO RIGHT ON THE WATERWAY. JOHN
KLINE 717-399-4980. I've gone to Myrtle and North Myrtle on and off since I was very youn
( I'm 19). In North- Sea Scapes is a great place to say. The Hard Rock
Cafe also has great food! My husband and I have been visting Myrtle Beach for the past 14 years.
Now I visit with my husband in April for two wks and return in June
with my daughter for a week. Some of our favorite places to visit are
Broadway at the Beach and Murriels Inlet. The last few years we have
stayed at the Sea Crest Resort, but, have also stayed at the Swamp Fox
and the Blue Water Resort. Favorite place to eat is Nance's at Murriels
Inlet. We really enjoyed our ride on the Ocean Screamer this summer,
and, of course still love the Beach and Sun. I have stayed at Myrtle Beach and loved it. We have stayed at so many
wonderful places. Some of them include Patricia North, Carolina Winds,
Crown Reef Resort, Myrtle Beach Martinique, Caravelle Beach and Golf
Resort, The Palace, and so much more. We have visited the Myrtle Beach
area for 19 years now and it is even bigger and better than it was then.
I love Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. Last year was the
most best year. My son and daughter were off for "Spring break",
and we went to visit, and that was the first time I had visited Broadway
at the beach. I am always interested in new resorts' in the Myrtle Beach
area. If anyone knows of any, please mail me. Anybody with any questions',
feel free to mail me. I am always available.. Sincerely & Myrtle
Beach Vacationer, Denise Chandler Nov 13, 1996...Have been visiting the area for six years in a row
and can't find one real strong complaint about any of it. Don't stay
at The Helms Motel. Do stay at the Ocean Forest or Caribbean, especially
the Caribbean. Do golf any Legends course, Oyster Bay, Marsh Harbour
or any of the Wild Wing courses. Going to try Gator Hole, Tidewater,
Arrowhead, Wicked Stick, Angels Trace(North) and Man O War in late February/early
March of 1997. Any body got anything to offer on any of these courses.
Best bang for your buck we think. Birdies aweigh. jonesd@rpm2.mb.ec.gc.ca
Since 1990 my brothers and I have been going to Myrtle Beach in the
fall, around Oct. or Nov. The first couple of years we stayed at the
Sands Ocean Club and it was very nice. The last few years we have been
staying at the ONE OCEAN PLACE condos which is thru Condotels. They
are very nice one two and three bedroom units with a great veiw of the
ocean. We just enjoy everything about Myrtle beach so it is hard to
pick just a few places that we enjoy to eat at or shop at or visit. We'll
be back Nov. 23rd 1996 at one ocean place.See ya then. just finished 5 days of golf. even though i had a few shall we say
verbal words with my clubs, the time i had spent at the chesterfield
inn was a god send. i highly recommend staying at this great location.
ray blasko JUST A NOTE TO COMMENT ABOUT THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN MYRTLE BEACH-
THE CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS RESORT. WE HAVE ENJOYED OUR VISITS FOR THE PAST
16 YEARS AND THEY KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER PRICE-WISE AND SERVICE
THAT COMPARES TO NONE. IF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE PLANNING A TRIP TO
THE SEASHORE FOR GOLF, ENTERTAINMENT, OR JUST RELAXATION CALL THEM.
THEY WILL SET UP YOUR ENTIRE VACATION IN A MATTER OF MOMENTS. 1-800-843-3461
OR (843) 448-1404. We've been going to Myrtle at Thanksgiving for 5 years now. We stay
at the Radisson Resort at Kingston Plantation and play lots of golf.
Outlet shopping is another favorite. We'd like to bring our Bichon this
year. Anyone know of low-rise condo rentals with golf packages that
accept pets? RM/MM My family and I just love to go to Myrtle Beach. Every time we go
we have a wonderful time. This year when we went, we saw dolphins swimming
near the shore. We took many pictures of that spectacular sight. This
year we stayed at Mrytle Shores. It was a very beutiful and well taken
care of motel. It was right on the beach so we had a very nice view.
Our hotel consisted of two rooms. One room was considered the master
bedroom. It had the belcony which faced the beach, and also it had the
tv. Between the two rooms there was the kitchen and the washroom. There
were doors betweent the rooms so that each couple had their own privacy.
I would recommend this hotel to any one going down to Myrtle Beach.
The prices were very affordable and the rooms were gorgeous. 10/21/96
Hi I stay at Garden City every year. Dunes Realty has really done
a super job to make me feel welcome. Broadway at the beach is great
I really enjoyed. See you July 4th My family and I went to MB in August 96, our 3rd visit. We love it
there. We are from Ontario and its takes us 2 days to drive there but
we don't mind because its beautiful driving through the Virginias. This
year we stayed at Myrtle Shores Motel a very reasonal motel right on
the beach. We prefer the smaller hotels because the beach doesn't get
crowded. We had a two bedroom efficiency that was very clean and very
well equipped. We were really surprised at the amount of development
that has been done since our last visit. ie: Broadway at the Beach,
Medievil Times, Milsap Theatre, Gatlin Theatre etc. We did a day trip
to Charleston midweek, saw the market, took a bus tour, love it there
also. We are hoping to go again next year hoping the exchange rate is
better. S.C. My friends and I went to Myrtle Beach last year for Spring Break.
It was the most incredible time I had ever had. We stayed at the Beachcomber
Motel. Although it wasn't all that fancy, for 5 high school seniors
on a limited budget, it was wonderful. There was 2 bedrooms , a bathroom
and a full kitchen. We were in heaven!!!! We're planning to visit Myrtle Beach in April or May of 1997. Our
choices for lodgings are the Club Regency at Regency Towers, The Yachtsman,
The Beach Club at Montego Inn or The Beach House Golf & Racquet
Club. Any info as to which would be the "nicest" place to
stay &/or comments about these accomodations would be greatly appreciated.
(Looking for "quiet" & "luxury") Our favorite place to vacation is Myrtle Beach. Now that we don't
have to go during spring break, we usually go in May and either September
or October. Our next trip is planned for October 20-26. Our favorite
places to eat are Benjamin's Original Calabash and Texas Steerehouse
(I think that's what it's called). We've stayed at Coral Beach Resort
mostly, but we've also stayed at The Yachtsman. This time we're staying
at Patricia Grand North. It's new. Anyone heard anything about it? Thanks
for any info!! Myrtle Beach is a fabulous vacation spot. Our family has been going
for the last 41 years. We leave on Sat. night (July 13) for this years
trip. What started out as my parents, my sister and myself, the group
now includes my husband, son, daughter and her fiance and my sisters
husband and two daughters. For the last several years we have stayed
at the Beach Colony and have been really pleased. The guys are
really into golf and the ladies enjoy the beach and shopping. There
are many great places to eat but our favorite is the Outrigger!! We
are really looking forward to another great year and are glad that Bertha
spared Myrtle. My husband and I stayed at the Ocean Dunes Resort in Myrtle
Beach this June and had the time of our lives! It was the first time
we've been there, and there was so much to do and see, we could've stayed
a month! Our favorite spots were the Broadway on the Beach, Barefoot
Landing, and touring the Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston. The people
are very friendly and the atmosphere at the beach is sheer relaxment
and enjoyment for all! 07/07/96 WE PULL OUR CAMPER DOWN TO MYRTLE BEACH EVERY JULY OR AUGUST
WE STAY AT MYTRLE BEACH TRAVEL PARK. IT'S GREAT EVERYTHING YOU
NEED IS IN THE PARK,ALSO IT'S CLOSE TO BAREFOOT LANDING,HOOTERS. Our family has visited Myrtle Beach several years. Our favorite places
to stay have been the Links, Fairfield Westwinds and the Kingston
Plantation. My sister and her husband would like to take their family
in August. I am needing a phone number from Kingston Plantation so they
can call about reservations for a condo there. Please e-mail me. my family and i are leaving today for myrtle beach. this is 15th trip.
we have gone, like, every other year or sometimes every single year.
we always stay at the firebird. it's cheap and plus you get the
hotel benefits of its sister hotel, the reef, which is located next
door. i am so excited. My family is planning our 5th trip to Myrtle Beach next month July
96. We always stay at the Sands Ocean Forest Resort. They have
great 2 bedroom condos and my family of five are quite comfortable in
their accomodations. During the summer they also have a terrific kids
club called "Sandy the Seagull" club that keep my 3 sons happy
and entertained for a little while each day. Myrtle Beach is the greatest
place to eat as well. Captain Benjamins and Outback Steakhouse are a
couple of our favorites. And you can't beat the miniature golf there
either!! You'll love it!! WE JUST CAME BACK FROM MYRTLE. TEN GUYS. WE STAYED AT THE CARAVELLE
IN THE HARBORESIDE CONDOS. GOOD ACCOMODATIONS FOR LARGE GROUPS. WE PLAYED
OYSTER BAY, MARSH HARBOUR AND WILD WING (FALCON AND ADVOCET). WE LOVED
WILD WING FALCON THE BEST, ADVOCET SECOND, MARSH HARBOUR, AND THEN OYSTER
BAY. IT IS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY TO PLAY THE BETTER COURSES. Our family has been to Myrtle Beach 4 times, once in march & the
rest at Christmas time. We thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere, friendly
people, golfing (our 10 yr. old thinks they have the best mini-golf
anywhere!),food, & then there is the ocean! there is so much to
do it's hard to know where to start. This past Christmas we stayed at
the Caravale in a suite overlooking the ocean. Every morning
we watched dolphins go by, feed the ever present seagulls, and saw surfers
trying to catch a wave. I would recommend Broadway at the Beach for
a great afternoon of shopping and great nightlife too. A good place
for ALL YOU CAN EAT SEAFOOD is Benjamin's Calabash, or for a great dinner
The Crabhouse at Broadway. I think the best part of all our Christmas
vacations here has been New years Eve. Someone always lets off fireworks
at midnight! Everyone should go there at sometime ; it's grrrreat!!!
We're going to Myrtle Beach in July again this year. We love it. Our
favorites include Dixie Stampede, Barefoot Landing, Alabama Theatre,
Alabama Grill, Umbertos (fantastic Italian food in Barefoot Landing),
Magic on Ice and golfing! We stay at Land's End and it is a
wonderful condo in North Myrtle. One year, we got tons of sand dollars
right near the shore. it's a fun place to visit... every year! April 5,1996 My husband and I visit Myrtle Beach every July. We find
it to be the ultimate vacation spot. We have a minature greyhound and
we take her along also. Pets are allowed on the beach before 9 am and
after 5 pm. We stay at the Dolphin Motel on N. Ocean Blvd. It
is a friendly, family oriented motel and we would never stay anywhere
else. The restaurants are fabulous. We've never had a bad meal at Myrtle
Beach. We love country music, and there are numerous theaters located
there. Our favorite is the Alabama theater. We were planning on moving
there, but where would we go on vacation???????? I would recommend Myrtle
Beach for a truly memorable vacation. I've been to Myrtle Beach for the last five years on either a golf
trip or a family vacation. It has to be the best place to go for any
vacation. The variety of golf courses is hard to belive. when you are
done golfing there are more things to do than you could thing of. Each
year it gets better because new attractions open up. I highly reccomend
a vacation there. If you are looking for a beach house try Sunset Beach
resorts. See ya in May. 4/2/96. We have been going to Mrytle Beach for 2 years and stay at the Sea
Castle Condos. The veiw is just fantastic! I was interested to know
if there is any other condo that might be as interesting to them as
this condo was to us? We are from Pennsylvania. There are four adults
and four children that pack into a minivan and take off on a Friday
afternoon. You could call us the Grizwalds! We usually stop over night
and drive in on Saturday. It is a hell of a ride especially when you
have two cring kids and you air conditioner is broken, but when you
arrive it is all worth it. If you want a beautiful view with spacious
living area, try the Sea Castle. We will be leaving August 10,
1996 . If you have stayed at a nicer condo please let me know. Thanks
The Grizwalds! My family has been going to Myrtle Beach for the last four years.
We go during our kids spring break. We are in love with Myrtle Beach.
It is so relaxing, and so much to do from golfing, to water sports,
to long beach walks. Great restaurants, and lots for the kids to do
also. We stay at the north end of the beach, which is known as the family
end. Don't let that turn you off. It's great. We stay at a place called
Sands Beach Club. They are two bed- room condo.s right on the
ocean. Every unit faces the ocean and has a patio. We have looked into
many other places each time we are there, but we cannot find a better
place, or a better price. It is paradise. From the minute we leave to
return home, we start counting the day's till it's time to go again.
Take a chance on Myrtle Beach, you won't be disapointed!!!!!!! My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach in July of 95. We fell in love
with the easygoing friendliness and reasonable pricing on everything
from food to accomadations. We stayed at then purchased a condo at The
Myrtle Beach Resort, just north of Surfside Beach, which we rent out
when we're not using it. Myrtle Beach is absolutely the best value for
your dollar. Remember when everyone talked about going to Florida years
ago-well now the hot spot is Myrtle Beach!! I've been to Myrtle Beach 5 times, and it gets better each time! We
really enjoy the ocean sightseeing boatrides out of Murrell's Inlet.
They are fun and reasonably priced for families. Also, the shopping
at Waccamaw Outlet center is great. We usually stay at Ocean Lakes Family
Campground. It has a great beach, nice facilities, and lots of activities
for all. Have fun visted north myrtle beach all of my life.great!stayed with Beachcomer
Realty and had wonderful accomodations. great shopping at barefoot landing.
Hello fellow tourists, We have visited Myrtle Beach regularly for 13 years. Great family
vacation spot. There is something for all ages. Lands Inn is a great
place to stay. Wonderful price and location!! My husband and I fell in love with Myrtle Beach and have decided to
move there this winter. We have had a blast on our visits and recommend
the Captain's Quarters hotel because of its reasonable price and its
indoor lazy river ride. Nirvana!!! The hard rock cafe next to Broadway
on the Beach is also cool. The weather is wonderful, even in the winter.I
can't wait to be down there full time. Our family has been going to MB for the last 4 yrs. We liked it so
much that we bought a 2 BR Condo at KINGSTON PLANTATION. We've
been in MB all 4 seasons and enjoy each. Our vote for best restaurant
is Giovanni's for great Italian food and Nance's in Murrell's Inlet
for seafood. Submitted 2-8-96. I've been to MBSC seven times. I've golfed with my buddies three times
and vacationed with my wife and children the other four times. Every
vacation was outstanding as MBSC is the friendliest place that I've
ever visited. We've stayed at KINGSTON PLANTATION and a number
of the DUNES places. They are both excellent. Golfing at MARSH HARBOR
(17th is my favorite golf hole ever) and OYSTER BAY are a must for every
golfer. Every place that we have eaten has been great. No one short
changes you in MBSC because they WANT you to keep coming back and we
are going again in April for our 4th consecutive year. I hope to see
you there. If you have any questions please email me at tbissell@biddeford.com
1/19/96 - My friends & I have been trekking to Myrtle Beach for
3 years. Our 4th trip is coming up in less than a month. Each year,
we O.D. on golf (for example, last year, we stayed 5 nights and played
10 rounds). We love the Caribbean Resort & Villas and the
Sea Captain's House. Favorite course has to be the Dunes Club.
Also love to play Myrtlewood - Pinehills and Long Bay. Best non-surcharge
courses are Indigo Creek and Buck Creek. I've played about 30 courses
at the beach - if you need any information about the ones I've played,
feel free to contact me. I have been to MB three times in the last year and a half. I really
like it there for golf and other activities. I go in November with couples
(stay in a condo by CONDoTELS, very nice). I organize a boys
trip in March (stay at Days Inn Surfside, Scottys Golf, I recommend).
I have played at 10 different courses. All were good, Blackmoor and
Oyster Bay were my favorites. Marsh Harbor was excellent also. The Links
Group courses I played (Burning Ridge Cypress Bay and Quail Creek) were
not as well conditioned but still good courses. All in all I like MB
and plan to return many times. Our Foursome has been coming to MB the last weekend in February since
1988. Have enjoyed stays at HILTON, and SEA TRAIL best.
This year (1996) trying THE WINDS in Ocean Isle Beach. SEA TRAIL
3 courses a must play along with LIONS PAW, THE PEARL and OYSTER BAY.
Worst experience was MYRTLE WEST. For great fun play GATOR HOLE and
one of THE LEGENDS courses. Really, you can't go wrong anywhere. Enjoy
yourselves!!!! The Grand Strand is super! Can't wait to retire and move on down.
Particularly enjoy Sunset Beach with it's laid back atmosphere, swinging
bridge, and easy proximity to all the excitement and fine cuisine of
Myrtle Beach. Like golfing and lodging at Sea Trails Plantation.
Three excellent, well kept courses and spacious accomodations. Myrtle Beach at New Years is a great time to visit. The pace is relaxed
from the hustle and bustle of summer. The Myrtle Beach Martinique
is a classy place to stay at a reasonable price. Having grown up on Winston-Salem, Mrytle Beach has always been the
choice vacation spot. We now live in West Tennessee and still make the
trek to the beach every year. We have been pleased with the accomodations
at the Tropical Seas North at Seventh Street and South Ocean
Blvd. This is one of the few places that serves breakfast and lunch
included in the price of the room.....great with kids. I have been visiting Myrtle for the past 10 years. We usually stay
at Sea Trails. Our group consists of usually 8-12 golfers and
we play some of the finest golf courses down there each year. I think
I speak for everyone when I say we wouldn't trade that holiday for anything!!
Great food, great fun, and great weather truly makes it a golfers paradise!
My wife and I visited Myrtle Beach for the first time this past summer.
I can't remember ever having a more enjoyable and relaxing vacation
as this was. We played golf in the morning and sat on the beach or by
the pool afterwords. Lounging by the pool and being served a cool beverage
and lunch was a great way to unwind after our fun on the links. We stayed
at the Myrtle Beach Martinique. The staff was very kind to us
our entire stay and we hope to go back this Christmas. See you all down
there! |
