Just played Wicked Stick after all morning rain storm. Other than the normal standing water in the fairways and some bunkers the course held up well. The greens were fast with only water along the collar on a few holes. This was the third time I have played this course and have had a great time each time. The reviewer is not taking into consideration that this is a resort area course. That translate into a lot of hackers like me looking for a course like this one that gives us a chance to finally get a decent round of gold in before we hop back on the plane. We had a pro with us and he was very happy with the course and he has played a lot of them all over the country.

I played this course 6 years ago along with Man of War, Gaunlet, Broadmoor, The Legends, etc. and now that I live down here this is the one course I am demanding to replay. It is a course for all golfers -- not just the low handicapped.

Played this course on July 30th, 2005. The rough was so high that hitting a ball two feet into it would most likely lead to a lost ball. Never mind venturing over the various mounds to find a ball. Grass bunkers were more of a challenge than the so called pot bunkers. To speed play on this track, I suggest shorter rough. (At least near the fairways) Most of us visiting Myrtle Beach will only play this course one time. I would not recommend it to anyone as long as the rounds take 5 plus hours to play due to ball hunting. The course was in good shape though.

Perhaps Chris Baldwin had an off day (on the course as well as with his laptop) when he wrote this commentary on Wicked Stick.
The course does provide a "look" at the links-style European courses Daily attempts to emulate. It's not St. Andrews - - and it's not meant to be.
The design of the course forces the low to mid handicapper to hit every club in the bag. Course conditions the past three years when our group has played range from very good to excellent. Plus the staff cannot do enough to make your experience positively enjoyable.
Our group visits MB every October and Wicked Stick is always on our itinerary - - - 2005 included!!!

I couldn't agree more with W M Boni. Each time I have played Wicked Stick it has been in good condition and enjoyable to play. We like to play it on the morning of the day we leave because it is also close to the airport.
