I bring a group of friends down to Myrtle Beach every year, this year we have 24, last year we had 16. Last year, May 31st we played Thistle. Let me start the story weeks before we played.
I set the trip up through Barbie at Beach Vacations, and we did not have Thistle down at first. I had to remove World Tour about 3 weeks before the trip because they change the aeration dates to when we where supposed to play. I asked Barbie what she though would be a good course. She didn't even hesitate, she said Thistle. This was my first year using Barbie, so I though maybe she was steering us towards a course her company had a deal with, so she urged me to look them up and call them.
Thistle's web site is first rate, I love the interactive picture slide show. After looking at the site, I made a call to their club house. Man, they were friendly, joked around with me, and really just seemed like they could have been one of the group of friends we bring down.
We got their, and at the time, the new club house was under construction, but they were friendly, remember us from my phone calls, had a few laughs with us, and sent us on our way. The starter gave us an accurate over view and told us to take our time and enjoy ourselves.
The course was in great shape, the holes a challenge, but fair and great to look at. We had the best time, on a course that looked like it opened yesterday.
I can not say enough good things about this course, their staff, the layout, the scenery and the over all experience.
You must play this course!

We just played at the Thistle Golf Club and did not have the greatest of experiences, the course itself was in very good condiction and the starter and bag guys were great the people behind the counter taking our money were not freindly at all first the local rate is $50. not $35 and we had a player with us that has just located to Wilminton,NC and just because he had not yet gotten his drivers license changed ( he had proof via bills with his name on them)they charged him non local rate of $75 and when we asked about replay of the other 9 they charged us $30 more than half of 18 hole fee and the person was not very freindly because of this we do not plan to go back any time soon although the course was good.

I played your course last Tuesday and it was one of the best I have ever played on the east coast. It was even made more memorable by seeing my old high school track coach and your starter JIM SALTERS.
In case you did not know, he coached many individual state champions, as well as state championship teams in track while teaching and coaching in Maryland school system. He was a great mentor and you should be proud to have him on your staff. Tell him I said thanks and please give him my email address so I can chat with him again from time to time.
