Wicked Stick Golf Links - Myrtle Beach

John Daly's first signature golf course (Clyde Johnston did most of the design work), Wicked Stick Golf Links is as big-minded as you might expect. It's nearly impossible to miss the looming, supersized course sign from Myrtle Beach's main drag, Highway 17, and Daly-logo clothes are displayed to great fanfare in a large clubhouse shop.

The golf course itself might throw Big John lovers off a bit; this isn't a pure grip-it-and-rip-it track. It's styled more like a links, albeit one with plenty of room to bomb. It's hard to imagine many true Scottish links courses having these mammoth par 5s (they range from 528 to 611 yards). And the golfers throwing back Buds don't seem too upset. The rangers here are very relaxed and fun-loving. No one's going to give you a wicked time at Wicked Stick.
