Legends Moorland Golf Course - Myrtle Beach, SC
The Moorland golf course at the Legends is a P.B. Dye design that uses the tall Carolina pines to frame open, rolling greens. Dye throws several inventive holes at golfers. On No. 3, all you see from the tee is the water clear and two gigantic fairway trees; the fourth has you shooting over a series of big hills to a flat green set back in the woods.
On and on it goes, with Dye's design making up for sometimes suspect conditioning (at least on an early winter's day in 2006). Moorland is part of a Legends complex that also includes a Tom Doak design and a course "modeled" after the work of Alister MacKenzie. Uniquely for Myrtle Beach golf courses, there are no houses on Moorland and virtually no traffic noise.
