The core of the clubhouse will mimic a stucco-over-limestone exterior which was common in the early 1800s. The right wing will feature quarried stone, popular during the mid-1800s. The left wing, which houses the members' facilities, will be constructed of brick.
Club members will enjoy a variety of private spaces throughout the clubhouse as well. Private dining and social rooms will be available for informal gatherings as well as special occasions.
"The new clubhouse is Thistle's own piece of Scottish history and beauty right here in the Carolinas," said Anthony Feilback, Project Manager for Thistle Golf Club. "We felt this was another important way to honor golf's heritage and our own link to Thistle of Leith. We look forward to welcoming our guests and members into the new facilities this spring."
The clubhouse was designed by the Creative Minds of Thistle and Barker/Gidry of Wilmington, N.C.
Thistle Golf Club takes its name from a 19th Century Scottish golf club, Thistle of Leith. Historic documents from the original club, as part of one of the world's finest golf memorabilia collections, will be on display in the new clubhouse.
Thistle is located in Calabash, N.C., just minutes north of Myrtle Beach. For more information about Thistle, call (800) 571-6710 or visit thistlegolf.com.
