Arcadian Shores Golf Club, a semi-private resort club, has been a Rees Jones-designed tradition on the north end of Myrtle Beach since 1974. It was actually the first golf course designed by Jones.
The 18-hole course measures out just 6,857 yards from the Championship tees, making it playable for golfers of all skill levels. But beware of the beauty in Arcadian Shores’ challenges, as seven holes of the course play along freshwater lakes, and there are 64 strategically placed sand bunkers around the Tifdwarf Bermuda greens and 10 acres of natural lakes that border the 419 Bermuda fairways. Add to that, the elevation of many of the greens – and the occasional nearby ocean breeze that comes into play on the back nine.
Take note: Hole No. 13 has been named by the PGA as one of the best holes in South Carolina and revered by golfers in the Myrtle Beach area.
Myrtle Beach Hilton Resort leased the course up until June 2009, when Burroughs & Chapin took over management. Since then, Burroughs & Chapin has been dedicated to reviving its 37-year-old award-winning form with improvements and enhancements.
A practice facility and golf instruction are both available on-site. Golfers also have access to the Hilton Golf Academy.
