The dramatic, 7,000-yard-plus layout features a fair share of water, like that surrounding the infamous island fairway on the par-5 sixth hole, nicknamed “The Gambler.” Hole No. 3 is also well known among golfers for its island green and South Carolina state-shaped sand traps. And the 18th hole, guarded by more than 40 sand traps, is certainly one to conquer.
And certainly one of the reasons for the many accolades King’s North has received nationally, including Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” in 2004 and “Places to Play” with 4.5 stars, as well as Golf for Women’s “Top 100 Courses in America” from 2000-2004.
