In 1996, world-renowned architect Dan Maples mapped out a battlefield of back-to-back island greens, including an unforgettable island on No. 9, and an overall par-72, 18-hole layout that dangerously winds around a 100-acre lake.

The nearly 7,000-yard Man O’ War golf course is also a fine specimen of beauty, seeded with Bentgrass greens and Bermuda grass across the fairways, tees and rough. The greens here, in fact, are among the area’s largest, with an average 10,000 square feet per putting surface.

Additional amenities include a marina-style clubhouse, practice range, putting green, chipping area and practice bunker.

Art (Wilmington, DE) - Conditions were great everywhere. Bunkers were raked. Wall to wall overseed, provided a rough that only The Witcfh also had. On other courses, the bermuda rough was greening up, but still actually played like fairway grass, but easy to hit from. The bent greens were firm, fast and true, even after enough rain to be CPO. MOW has lots of water, wide fairways and sparse tree lines. The big undulating greens make it difficult to get close for birdies or make many longer putts. Wind also seems to be a factor here and on Wizard. - 05/14/2013 - 10
