Designed by Tom Jackson in 1989, Black Bear boasts new Bermuda Grass greens within its 6,787-yard layout. At par 72, the course (and those magnificent water features) will have players using every club in their bags. The par 5 18th hole, for example, is a 533-yard dog-leg right, best played over the water instead of around it.
But Jackson was generous and did allow wide fairways and landing areas to enter into his design plan to balance out play with some confidence.
