The end result was a smashing success, as Thistle Golf Club, one of the newest golf courses on the illustrious Grand Strand, mixes natural elevation changes that partner with the land's stunning vegetation and wetlands. Large bent grass green complexes along with intricately carved bunkers make Thistle a true golfing experience for those that make Myrtle Beach their vacation golf destination, as well as for lucky locals.

Near the South Carolina state line in Sunset Beach, N.C., Thistle presents golfers with a distinct Scottish Links feel. And while this 27-hole golf facility is a pleasure for the eyes, golfers of all levels will be forced to navigate a challenging, yet fair run.

The course is designed to give golfers a diverse set of options. The No. 2 hole, a 414-yard par 4, will have players firing their approach shot directly over water, a quick way to get the blood pumping on this stellar run. For players who like some risk-reward opportunities, look no further than the par-5 fourth hole, which will require a drive that navigates water to the right.

Thistle Golf Club is also known for having its starting times spaced at least 12 minutes apart, giving players a comfortable space between groups, as well as for its immaculate conditioning.
