The Pearl was built on a 900-acre marsh preserve and features two of the finest 18-hole golf courses in the Grand Strand area. Both have been consistently ranked as among the top courses in the Carolinas and were nominated as the "Best New Public Courses in America" by Golf Digest.

The two courses were renovated in 1999, with the East Course playing more as a traditional layout, carved through pristine forest with a dynamic finish along the Calabash River.
