A Myrtle Beach golfer's review: Wachesaw Plantation East
Aside from the fact that it’s one of the great golf destinations on the planet, one of the interesting things about Myrtle Beach is that it’s virtually ensconced in history. And at Wachesaw Plantation East, that history comes to life in a brilliant Clyde Johnston design.
Opened in 1996, this challenging championship layout was built on the site of a former rice plantation. Johnston worked his magic on the land, creating a golf course sculpted out of gently rolling terrain, with heavily wooded areas, giving the design a Scottish feel, where wetlands and lakes add to the challenge.
At Wachesaw, history truly comes to life. Which is just one reason why so many include it in their Myrtle Beach golf packages, where they hope they can make a little Grand Strand history of their own.
